First, the revlimiting at 4K or so is usually a MAP sensor problem. Verify that your dumbass mechanics plugged it back in.

Second, the manifold is two pieces and i have seen gaskets fail at the manifold -> head location, and at the upper -> lower manifold location. test all around the manifold with some non-flamable bake cleaner. When you spray on or near the leak, the engine will begin to sputter and may stall.

If its reving to 4K on its own, that's a big damn leak. How could someone NOT find that?
