#6578, "14b setup question"
Dec-14-06 06:53 PM by JayWeezie88

Ok so I picked up a 14b today that was rebuilt less than 1000 miles ago. Along with that the guy chipped in all the oil lines that connect to the 14b, 1g smic, exhaust manifold, o2 housing and new o2 sensor, all the ic pipes, and the oil return line.

My question is...Would i be able to simply bolt all of this up and run the 14b? I can do slight customization such as pipe cutting and such, but welding is out of the question as I dont have the tools/knowledge.

is this going in a 2g 420a or a turbo 2g? if its the turbo 2g, you will need an install kit for it, if its the 420a, you will need alot more stuff.

It will bolt up without too much trouble. All you really need would be the j-pipe and the oil feed line.
You will have to:
1.)Drill out the holes a little on the turbo side of your stock oil return line. The ones on a 14b/16g are spaced a little wider.
2.)Attach oil feed line
3.)Reverse and/or bend the water lines as needed
4.)Make the j-pipe mate to your LICP.
It took me a good 8 hrs to do mine but I did it outside, in the dark, and also swapped injectors and fuel pump.
edit: If he gave you the stock 1G j-pipe, it won't work. In fact, you won't be able to use ANY of the IC piping. The j-pipe won't work because it comes off the turbo in the wrong direction. You need one that goes towards the pass side. If I were you, I's buy an install kit. A couple different vendors have them for around $200.

Sorry if im getting you guys frustrated...

But..
1.) He gave me the 14b oil return line from his car (1g)
2.) All of the lines are attached to the turbo already besides the return line
3.) I can understand bending the lines a bit thats not a problem
4.) The ic piping he gave me is off of the 1g

If this is redundant just ignore it and tell me to shutup and buy a install kit / j-pipe lol

shut up and buy an install kit/ j-pipe. you don't want to use the stock oil lines for this install. just get a kit. and buy my j-pipe. i'll hook you up as it is extra and i don't really need it.

Buy his J-pipe and you can get the SS oil feed line and gasket from RRE.
You won't need anything else. You won't need or be able to use the IC piping or SMIC. You will want to get an adapter and use the 1G BOV if he included that. Or get another. The plastic stock 2g one sucks.

pretty much yeah...
There's always little stuff you won't know you needed till you have evrything apart though.
Also, try to scrounge up an extra turbo/manifold bolt. Stock setup has 3 bolts and a stud. Just replace the stud with a bolt.
I would start SOAKING eveything in PB Blaster as much as you can as early as possible before you think about cracking a bolt loose. I'd also soak it and let in set overnight before you do it too.
