#1, "2012 DSM Shootout. Celebrating 20 years of DSMs in Norwalk."

So the 2012 Shootout marks 20 years of idiots gathering in Norwalk, OH to beat the crap out of their economy sports coupes. I missed it in 2011 due to work and other issues that I couldn't reschedule, but I am already planning my time to be at the 20th annual. It's going to be HUGE.

My Talon should hopefully be running by the end of next month if all things go well. That only gives me 10 months to tune it, make it reliable, buy a tow vehicle, get a trailer, and haul my ass to Ohio. I will be racing for the first time since 2005 when my SAFC died on the drive to Norwalk, effectively leaving me with 3 and a half cylinders for the race and the drive home. (still ran a 12.7 if I remember correctly and made it home in one piece).

This time I will have an extra .3 liters of displacement and a tow vehicle that I'll be driving 4,000 miles round trip. What could possibly go wrong?

So that's it. I'm hoping we can have not only a big turnout, but I'd love to see some people racing next year. Who's down?

Why plan to be there? The world will be over anyways...

On a more serious note I'd love to be able to mark the big 20, with an NA beast that will stomp the shit out of many of our 4g63 cousins.

Definitely going to be there, already asking for time off work for the 3 day event and I need to go ahead and reserve a hotel. Ahh, this one should be a blast! Who knows, maybe I can drive Alice there this year(yes after 7 years I've finally named the car)!

I should be in with two cars. Tim should be in with one. Driggs should be in with one, I think Eric was going to be in with one? Zac, as he said, will be in with one. Steve will be in with one. Colby will be in with one.

A pretty good showing for 2gnt, eh?

Such a great way to start the post Jeff. So very true... our poor economy cars... lol

I missed this year and was ticked about it. I haven't been in the past 2 years, maybe 3, but next year I don't care what else is going on, I will be going...

...and I have 2 cars to choose from to go with I'll probably take the Eclipse over the Ralliart, but each has its pros and cons:

Eclipse - better mileage, know how to race it, transmission better for drag racing, changer with 10 discs makes drive MUCH more tolerable, sunroof (ahh the sunroof, such a nice thing to have on a drive like that)

Ralliart - much quieter, more comfortable ride (go figure), many more features, also has changer (6 disc instead of 10 though), and bluetooth for phone or music player, and usb port for music player, and sattelite radio, and fuse system to control it all and make phone calls... and climate control... you get the picture...

...also faster, but that might change by next year, we'll see what I can do.

And also a 2011 Ralliart

So, just noticed that Bushur posted a thread on tuners about them building a 1g for the 20th anniversary for the SO and noted a few things that I think we a 2gnt people have been doing for years...

"The last reason for this build is a short story.....Myself, Jarrod, Kevin and Dean Lawson all took a trip down to North Carolina this November for a race. It was the first race Kevin, Dean and myself had been together to in many-many years and the weekend reminded me of all the things I love about racing. Friendship, laughs, dinners, drinks, laughs, conversation, laughs and of course the racing although to be honest the racing is a small part of it."

So with that said, its gonna be a hell of a SO this year, and if you've never been, this is the year to go!
