Welcome to the fold.

If you're looking for the power, you're at at distinct disadvantage, being the automatic. However you can still make the car a super nice ride. For the best value in performance, find a catback (or at least the rear section) off a stock 2G GST. Some have had good results with the rear section off a V6 3G. Snatch up a short ram intake off Ebay and stick a quality filter on it, and then consider picking up an underdrive pulley. You should be able to get all that to your door for less than $300 and you'll get a nice change of attitude from the car.

Otherwise, I'd suggest getting a nice set of wheels/tires and lower the car. Clean it up really nice and focus on driving a super clean car. You'll have something very nice to get you around in.

Psshh. Wait til the transmission exits the building and then convert it to a 5 speed.

Seriously though, Driggs is right. Make it a nice clean daily driver and enjoy it as a cruiser.

Is it difficult to change it to a 5 speed? i was thinking about doing that, but wasnt sure how hard it would be to do, or how much it would cost

Check out the wiki on our home page. I'm pretty sure there is an article or two on the subject. It's been done a number of times before. Not too expensive, but labor intensive.
