I can't speak for the fuel cut problem, but you do know you only need one or the other hooked up right?

What fuel pump are you using? Do you have a way to check fuel pressure under boost?

Your FCD wasn't calibrated right. They require adjustment. If it isn't set right you will experience drivability problems. Bad idle being one of them. Since you took it off and it idled fine, that obviously shows the FCD was set incorrectly. Try out the missing link and see if you've got fuel cut. I've seen numerous ML's fail and zero FCD's fail. Your best bet is selling the Missing link and putting the FCD back on, and setting it correctly.

P.S. your CEL was most likely due to Map voltage to high or low.(again, due to incorrectly set FCD)

Where did you get your FCD from? If you got it from Paul, I noticed in the instructions he sent me, the wiring diagram was wrong. I don't remember which wires were switched, but just that it wouldn't idle at all and I got a CEL. After I troubleshooted the wiring, I got it to run right. Maybe re-check it to see if the wires were on the right ones.

You can just blow into the MAP sensor and it should create at least 1 psi. Hook up a multimeter to it blow into the sensor while looking at the voltage and adjust accordingly.

Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? What sort of fuel pressures are you seeing? You may just be leaning out rather than fuel cutting.

post your complete set up and what PSI you are running.. that would help. not sure why you are running a second FCD when you already have the Missing Link, there is no need.

Wait so you are saying you don't have a FPR of any sort installed? just an SFAC!!?
If so, that right there is your problem, you don't have fuel under boost!!

LMAO. I saw deej was the last person to reply and I *knew* I had to read the thread. Excellent.

Johnny,

I think you might be misusing an acronym, here. Here's what you need for a basic turbo system on these cars.

- FCD (fuel cut defencer) - this is the missing link or a voltage clamp for the electrical line to/from the MAP sensor. It keeps the ECU from seeing boost and cutting fuel to the engine.

- FPR (fuel pressure regulator) - this is the Cartech or more popular Vortech Fuel Management Unit (FMU) or Super FMU (SFMU). The computers on these cars are not set up to increase fuel delivery like is needed in a boosted application. The FCD keeps the ECU from seeing boost, but the ECU uses the MAP to determine how much fuel to add. This is why you need the FPR. You need something that will mechanically increase the amount of fuel that is delivered when in boost.

This isn't all there is to it, but I think this might give you some insight. Lose that SAFC. It's useless to you.
