#99311, "No boost problem and car running weird."

Hey guys,

Not sure if this involves what my problem may be, but I thought I would add it. I was boosting a little bit last night and I noticed it was building pretty slow. I was trying out a different boost controller that I got for cheap to see if it works and thought it was probably it that was doing it.

Well a little laster I was at a friend's house and got stuck in the snow in his driveway (kinda in the ditch on the side). Front passenger side front got kinda stuck. As I was trying to rock it out, the car started to idle really weird. Vacuum went down to about -5 and idle was terrible. Air/fuel gauge was in the green and eventually died. Kept starting it back up after a little bit and would idle rough and die again. Finally it started, idled rough, then returned to the right idle (my car idles at around -15 to -17 vacuum). Got it out and took it on the road and I floor it and the boost gauge goes to like -3 vacuum and no boost. I am on open downpipe right now and I hear the turbo spooling noise still, but I couldn't tell if a pipe had blown off because of being stuck. This morning I pull it in the garage, take off the bumper, and check over everything. All couplers and piping are still attached tightly. I took it for another test drive and same thing as night before. Flooring it only gets to -2 to -3 vacuum on the gauge and no boost. When I free rev it, the gauge goes to -3 vacuum and starts going up (as in gaining more vacuum, gets to around -10 as I get higher). I swapped MAP sensors with my eclipse's I have and that didn't help. Checked over all vacuum lines and they are still good and connected. I tried doing some searching on this, but I really don't know what to start looking with. Can anyone give me some advice on where to start looking further?

Check everything again y0

What kind of boost controller are you using? Did you try running off just the wastegate? When you rev it, you're gonna head towards 0 then start building vacuum again, so no worries there.

Oh yeah...check everything again emoji

Yeah just checked everything over again. Took the boost controller off and line from turbo to wastegate and still the same. I think it may be a sensor problem somewhere. I had a similiar problem like this when I had my power wires mixed up for my FCD (I think the 5v for the MAP sensor and the 12v power for the FCD) I had switched those back and had boost. I tried a different MAP sensor though now in case the one had gone bad and still the same. Could the O2 sensor maybe be the culprit? I took it for a test drive not to long ago and whenever I would lay off the gas, the Air/Fuel Gauge I have would go all the way into the red and off the gauge so none of the LED's would light up. Also when I try flooring it, the Air/Fuel only gets to the First green LEDs instead of all the way on the far right like it used to.

I know you said all the clamps were on fine and that, but I would check all the couplers and make sure none of them have a tear in them if you haven't already done so.

That's normal

Seems like something changed then. For a little background, what's your current fuel setup?

12:1 FMU and Walbro 255

I checked over all the couplers and they appear to have no tears and are on tight. I did do a keydance and found I have 2 codes. One was EGR (blocked off) and I had a 14, which is MAP voltage too high or too low. I took a multimeter to it while blowing into it and my FCD stops it at 4.65v right now. I am going to do some readings when the car is idling to see what it reads.

OK guys, I think I got it. I set the FCD down to 4.51v instead and the car runs great now. Better than before. I hate when I figure these things out after making a thread lol. Thanks for all your help guys.

That does sound like a dead O2 sensor or faulty gauge. I found I was going through o2 sensors every 5-10k miles or so while tuning, so while my shitty tuning shouldn't automatically mean your o2 is dead, you might want to have a brand new o2 sensor around for testing in situations like this.
