Ok here is the deal...

this spring ill have my motor rebuilt... so ill put more boost on it.

Already have a Hahn turbo kit with a 2G OEM SMIC @ 8PSI. With my built motor I will try to get around 15psi. I not do anything special to get more air to the IC... like duck. My IC piping was temporary and is made from ABS. I know I need to change it but now with the motor and all the stuff that cost a LOT of money.

I can have a deal on a Star fmic. I know it will not fit hrc. I dont want to rotate the turbo, any way to fit the piping ? will I need to do a lot of customize if I want it to fit ? Or its better to buy a hahn smic...

Also, Im running the factory hahn downpipe with oem exhaust for now. At 15psi its overkill, is it more efficient to buy better exhaust before the IC ?

Im lost here... also im automatic !

Thanks all

Go with exhaust first. You will see quicker spool up and lower egt's. The stock exhaust is really restrictive, you can get a 3" off ebay for ~$310 shipped or even a 2.5" wouldn't be too bad for ~$250 shipped although if you're building the motor might as well go 3". As for the star fmic, you will be able to use at least two of the 4 pipes maybe 3 of them (I forget what the piping looks like I know mine was modified for a shorter route before I bought it so I know with my setup I would be able to use 3 of 4 pipes (if I had a hahn manifold/turbo.) You can also go with a custom ebay intercooler setup for pretty cheap they seem to hold up well too. Between the two, it's a good way to spend $500-$700

When you buy exhaust system... u get all the stock after the flex section ? Only the downpipe with flex is missing ?

you also don't usually get a cat. Some exhausts I believe replace the cat and bolt right up to the downpipe but most are meant to bolt up to the cat. So you will want to get a hi flow cat or test pipe also

Thanks for your help. If I buy exhaust... and for now want to use factory downpipe let say to the flex and than start with a new cat an exhaust... will it help or it will do nothing cause ill use the small downpipe? Dont know much about exhaust... Best to do for know will be to buy bigger exhaust and use that 2g smic and swap for better later...

I would say go with the intercooler. Think about this...

Why try to run all this boost if your just putting hot charged air into your motor. Your going to increase the chance of detonation regardless of how much fuel you give it. Run bigger piping and the right kind of piping and a bigger fmic. You can get one off ebay. I got an xspower one that's pretty tight for about 200 shipped bran new. then you can figure out what kind of piping you need for a custom setup. I found a guy on ebay that advertises building your own kit. He gives you a limit of how many pieces you can choose from.
I did that and made a kit that worked perfectly for 111 shipped, all 2.5 inch.

Now is 3-400 that bad for a security measure that your fmic can handle cooling that much air?

ehasut is equally important to get your turbo spooling to make that much boost, but what good is that much if your smic can't efficiently cool as much as you want?

Fully Built MS powered 99' GS Sport, Garrett T3/T04e 60 trim with one big ass intercooler!

Yeah, she runs...sorta!

Good point,

is this situation a good idea ?

buy Hahn FMIC with hahn piping... than weld the factory downpipe that came with the kit with my oem downpipe but put 3" exhaust after the flex. In fact, when I was turbo @ 8psi with 12:1 fmu I noticed my spool time slow... sure I want cooler air and avoid detonation but dont want to start boost at 4000rpm...

There's a HRC SMIC and piping in the for sale section.

With this type of question, you will get many different answers.
Think of it as this, your engine is nothing but a glorified "air-pump"...It takes air in and expells air out.
You want to maximize the effects of both the incoming and outgoing air. Immediate limitations are in your intercooler plumbing and the factory exhaust.
Correct your intercooler piping while retaining the SMIC for now, but be sure to add an exhaust. This will serve a dual benefit and allow for less temps overall. You will find that the vehicle will be better to respond and you can support higher levels of boost by doing so this way. Although there is a "gawk factor" when adding a front mount, you'd be best off to wait if you are pinching pennies at the moment.

What do you mean by gawk factor ?

This is my way now... im looking for exhaust parts before fmic. Save money and add one later.

Thaks for all opinion.
