#99126, "Which fuel control is best?? NEED SUGGESTIONS"

Im going INSANE. I have almost completed my turbo parts list and want to get everything installed and tuned. I HAVE an Apexi SAFC NEO for tuning. Many people online tell me sell the NEO(its crap)..and use a Vortech SFMU instead. Turbo shops in my area contradict each other and tell me all kinds of different things. So if anyone can please HELP ME OUT on this..My car is a 1999 eclipse 420a and im going to run 6-7psi on stock injectors. WHICH DEVICE IS GOING TO RUN MY CAR SAFELY AND SMOOTHLY?????

Yeah like ^^^^ said, the cheapest would be a 12:1 fmu. If you want you could use an SFMU and gain some tuning ability. For most people the safc is used to obtain a good idle because of large injectors. With a 12:1 your not going to have the ability to tune because theres nothing to adjust. Depends on what your final goals are, if your going standalone then just use the FMU right now, if not anytime soon the I would get the SFMU.

The only nice advantage of the S-FMU with your setup is the ability to adjust the maximum fuel pressure under full boost. The 12:1 FMU will have you running rather rich (and safe) and a dyno tune wont do anything for you other than know what your air/fuel curve looks like and WHP. If you are planning on getting a dyno tune then adjusting the max fuel pressure will give you a better air/fuel ratio at WOT and give you some extra HP.

It depends on your future plans for the fuel system. The S-FMU isn't cheap so figure out what level you would want your fuel system to be complete at.

Get an SFMU, you can probably find one fairly cheap on here. I've been running an SFMU since I've been turbo, about 4 years. I'm still using it at 20psi. It's got some tunability and you can still use it when you step up your game.

I also agree with the SFMU...its a good investment as you can also get a bleeder valve for the SFMU to give you even more tunability out of it. I use to have one before I got megasquirt and the SFMU worked great..no complaints.

Should I just sell my SAFC NEO or pay that extra money to have it installed and tuned?? The SFMU can do the job just fine by itself correct?

How in the hell are you running 450's with an fmu and stock fpr???

Your idle fp with 450's should be <20psi, if you don't have anything to adjust idle fp i.e. cartech/sfmu, you're still running twice that at idle and adding more fuel then necessary under boost. Do you have any type of a/f gauge?

Are you sure MSnS is something you wanna get your hands dirty with?

He wasn't quoting you

On a side note, I'm glad to see that some new guys do actually use the search function for some stuff. Next time however, make a new thread and simply reference back to the thread you found in your search

i see what you mean. as far as the MSnS idk man i have been told that that is the best way to go. idk i am really confused on how to set up my fuel system so that i would not have a problem tunning. and if not the MSnS than what else within that price range? i mean yeah i am new to that program but at the smae time im not an idiot ill read and learn it you know? no one is born with knowlege. i do have an A/F gauge. the thing is after i turbo'd my car i ran it 2 lean and it blew on me. (there's a laugh at my expence) so i bored the block .020" over put wisco pistons with eagle H beam rods. 8.8:1 comp. ratio. runing a cometics head gasket 3 layer steel. have a super 16G with the hahn manifold internal waste gate an RFL BOV with a Side mount for now. I am opened to any sugestions and criticism. and my bad if you guys see these kinds of ?'s all the time or if this is the wrong form to be posting under, i just have no one else to turn to and idk what to do with the fuel. thanx guys!

Do a search and if you still can't find an answer, post a new thread for yourself. I know you can find all these answers with some searching though.
