Hi,

ive complete my turbo install and take it for a drive. Im auto with a smic. I cannot past 0 vaccum, or maybe between 0 and 1... but if I release the gaz the bov (greddy type-s) make a little flutter and finaly a small whistle. How can I heard the bov and get no boost ???

BOOST LEAK.

One of your intercooler pipes is not connected fully or you have a wastegate issue. Do you have internal or external wastegate?

Check all your piping clamps.

Im internal wastegate, its a hahn s16g. Ill check all the clamps. Can it be a bad turbo ? I guess not if its new. As for the bov, ive read that a turkey sound is compressor surge, mine is like 3-4 small flutter in a row and finaly a little whistle, I hope its ok!.

take a pic of the engine for us.

where is the bov located on the piping? stock injectors?? Did you take apart the intake manifold? all vacume lines on the back left of the manifold are plugged in? seperate vac line to wastegate? bov? sfmu? boost gauge?

make sure everything is tight cause any vac leaks are just holes that the boost is escaping to?

Dont have a digital camera on hand but my bov in just before the intake manifold. Im on stock injector with 12:1 fmu and walbro 255 (the pump im sure it work I can hear it lol. As for the vaccum... I feel a little stupid now because I plug only the feed and return line on the turbo, wastegate vacuum ?????? where is it on the turbo? (im internal) the bov, fmu, boost gauge are tight but all on the same line (egr I think). Ive not removed the intake manifold. On the boost gauge at idle i read ~17, same as without turbo. Also, I was unable yet to get a proper size filter for the turbo and breather so I just put nothing on the breather and a tight cotton cloth on the turbo before I find a filter, and i know that the turbo was spinning before I put the filter.

The only thing I wouldn't do is run the fmu off that same lines as 3 other things.

If I T the fmu with another one on the back of the intake is it ok? Or it would be better to put it in another place ?

In second gear at around 3000rpm, should I expect to see a little boost ?

For my piping at this time... dont laught! didnt have proper piping on hand so ive custom made a abs piping with silicon coupler for now, Ill change to aluminium during next spring because the car will be in storage for the winter. So with abs glue it cant leak... ill check the coupler and maybe its the used 2g smic.

This weekend ill built a leak tester and see...

You are aware that on the passenger side of the intake manifold there is a "vacuum tree" right? One of them is just plugged or at least it should be. If you have 4 vacuum source you could have 2 from one port and 2 from another. I'm not sure that I would feel comfortable teeing 3 sources of vacuum from one line, but that's just me... and you don't HAVE to that's the thing.

On the back of intake I have 3 ports (tree), presently all my stuff (bov, boost gauge and fmu) are on the last one (egr) with 2 T. Ill just unplug the fmu and connect it with the second port to try it.

AND... :/

ive decided to go on the highway to test a little more the car to see If I can get a little more boost, I was able to get about 1 near 2 psi!!!! BUT at this time a big smell of gaz in the car so i release the gaz (egt was at ~1500) and go into a parking lot. BIG gaz leak under the car near the fmu so a line is broken I guess ill check it on tomorrow. Can it be a fuel related problem for the no boost ?

If you were at 1500 on the egt your running waay lean at 2 psi. lol

Re-check all the fuel lines. Theres no fucking around when it comes to a fuel leak. Do it tight and do it right.

The only reasons I can see you not building boost are

a. intercooler piping is leaking
b. turbo is fucked
c. major backpressure in the exhaust

Even if you didn't have enough fuel it would still boost. You'd be lean but it should still build boost no matter what.

Do you have the stock echaust and the stock cat in there still. That could be holding you up emoji

I fixed the gaz leak (a line broke). As for the exhaust systeme im running all stock for now but ive read that until 5psi it must be ok. egt at 1500 can be because of my fuel leak at the same time so less gas causing to be lean i guess.

Do you guys change your gas line when you install a fmu ? or the stock one are enought ?

thanks for the help!!

I guarentee he still isn't building boost... but I bet his EGT are much lower now that the fuel leak is fixed, or at least they should be...

I'm thinking the boost leak would be pretty damn obvious if he is having a hard time building 2psi though.

Did you use worm gear clamps for your intercooler couplers? Did you even use silicone intercooler couplers? If you are having this much trouble you might as well just uninstall the front mount and all the piping (depending on if you are lazy or not)... check to see if all of the couplers are intact and have/had a good seal. If they do/did have a good seal on the pipes, then your wastegate might be stuck open, or is opening WAYYYY too early.

Does your turbo still spin freely? Or have any visible damage to the fins? Just trying to help out.

the turbo is spinnging fine, no visible damage. Ive not taken it for another test since the leak is fixed, im a little afraid now lol. The car is lowered and cant even put a simple jack under the car when im not at home. Im waiting for my turbo filter before another test. As for the intercooler, silicon coupler are new exept 1. If I use some wd40 and spray a little at union and a leak is present, the motor should rev harder or sound change ?

I also have a exhaust leak at the union with hrc downpipe and stock exhaust where you put the hrc "clamp". I doubt it can cause a non boost problem since its exhaust... btw i found a product form permatex (mastic) that hold fine 2000 F. Ill try to seal it with that.
