#97395, "Thinking about running this turbo, what do you think??"

Hey guys here is my setup other than the turbo that I am going to be running on my car:

Vortech SFMU (-4 AN stainless fuel lines)
Hahn Manifold
Walbro 255lph fuel pump
Electronic FCD
Some sort of wideband (not sure which yet)
2.5" downpipe
3" cat-back exhaust
Concept Illusions oil line kits
Star FMIC with piping
HKS SSQV BOV

I am thinking about running the Volvo (Garrett/AiResearch) T3 turbo to start off with. The model number is tb0363 and I was going to get one from SpooledMotorsports. Reason for getting a turbo that is smaller than your average one on a 2gnt is because my motor has 115xxx miles on it and I don't want to push TOO much because I don't exactly want to throw a rod through the block if you know what I'm sayin. Anyways, these turbos are internally gated at ~7psi. Does anyone see any problem or have they possibly had any experience with one of these before? Thank you fellas, have a nice day!

I don't understand, are you saying that since it's smaller than the average 2GNT turbo it's going to be easier on the engine? And do you have a particular reason to be worried about throwing a rod (read; something wrong with the engine) or it's just a concern of yours? If you are just going to run low boost, why not get a T25 or something, modify the wastegate to 5psi and let it spool quick. How much is this turbo going to cost, a rebuilt T25 is about $250 emoji

$200 shipped. I would consider running something like a t25 except I have a hahn manifold (t3 flange). Anyone have any experience with the tb0363? Is it different than other garrett t3 turbos? Looking at pictures it doesn't appear to be different from a regular one but I'm not positive.

I agree with Keith. Why get a small turbo because you don't want to blow up your engine? Just get whatever turbo you want, and run it at a low boost level. And if you are that worried, I would start building a spare engine immediately, so you are ready for when this rod goes through the block...

That is good advice... Boost it as high as it can go when you're ready to put the new block in emoji

I already have the -4AN lines and they are pretty much completely installed that this point. I just followed that diagram for the SFMU in the mods section. So you guys are suggesting get the turbo that I want and do the spring mod on the wastegate so that I am running 4-5psi? Sounds like a good idea.
