#97124, "what to do"

first of all i am very new to the forum sites. I have a 99 eclipse gs with the 420a. i recently had a nitrous backfire due to user error which threw a rod threw the block. I am set on useing nitrous so i bought a forged short block from slowboy racing which comes with wiseco 10.5 to 1 pistons and eagle rods, i had the head ported and polished (intake and exhaust) and had it resurfaced a lil less than 10 thousands. so i will be running a lil less then 11-1 compression. i have stock cams, a header, intake, and catback exhaust. I will be running a 100 shot of nitrous. my question is how can i retard the timing on the motor. i have heard i can get a msd-dis retard box, or if i can find one a apexi ignition timing controller. i need to know the best route

You want either an MSD DIS2 or a Crane Hi-6DI2. With the Crane you'll need the timing retard module as well.

EDIT: Moving to turbo/nitrous section.

I can't tell you about the MSD system. I have a Crane so I know what's needed with that setup.

Ditto. There seem to be more incidents of the MSD ignition systems failing completely around here than any problems with the Crane. Do a search for the common failures assoc. with the MSD units.

Also, expect to do some research on your fuel system. A 100 shot is going to add a lot of oxygen to the mixture...

with a 100 shot you should get bigger injectors and a walbro 255 pump at least. if you only want nos you should maybe think about a 50shot or so will be cheaper in the long run.

97 wide body with 1g turbo setup
