Whats up everyone? Well I've been putting together a turbo kit here and doing alot of research on it but I need help in picking the best turbo for me, any help would be great guys. You guys know all there is and I'm just trying to get some of that LOL

First off this is my manifold, bought it from this site ...

It has a mitsubishi flange on it and is set up for external wastegate, so i got a delta wastegate for it, i also have a greddy type s bov and a star fmic, but now im wondering what turbo would be right for me? I'm running stock internals so I'll probably nbever try to take my boost above 10, I'm saying right now I'll go for 7, but do plan a strong internal rebuild later. Someone said a 16g would do good, 14b's are good priced, but I' rather get 1 thats already external wastegate instead of having to block it off or whatever that is I was told I could do, I dont know if that is a good thing to do to them or not.

And also where is a good place to buy the turbos at? Ive seen a couple of places but have had no luck finding 1 for this manifold. Thanks alot guys

I would say for now just get a good used 14b and weld the flapper closed and run an external gate for now. It's a good cheap fast turbo. You can always upgrade later.

Or you could get a plate and gasket and block that wastegate flange off and run the 14b with an internal gate.

That manifold if going to be tricky. Your setup for a mitsu based turbo so looking at turbo's you will need to look in that direction. Forced performance makes some of the best designs with that flange. For now I too will recommend a 14b. the 14b has proven to boost upwards to 20psi reliably for the 4g63 guys. Granted it does not flow as much air, it will allow you to get boosted and slowly get your project to where you need it before you spend a ton in a turbo.

I think Matt 99gs is selling a forced performance turbo for just under 1000.00 which is a very good price for the turbo but a bit much for your setup. If you wanted to buy one turbo and slowly grow into it then that is an outstanding choice.

The tricky part will be the external WG. most of mitsu based turbo's are setup for internal gates. The Manifolds are setup for external gates when a Garrett is used.

thanks for the ideas guys ...seems like the 14b is the most 'popular' idea for this, they arent too high priced so i wouldnt have to cut nothing back so to speak, to get it, the only thing is to get the external wastegate to be used .. wheres a good place to get a good 14b at? and when i run a 14b do i have to use the o2 housing or whatever that is? im not familiar with it at all

No, you don't have to use the o2 housing... Get a flange and take it to an exhaust shop and have them make you a downpipe, or buy a downpipe already made and put the o2 sensor in there... BTW you have a PM

Mike, how is a garrett based turbo supposed to fit that flange? Shut up and get yours on a dyno.... emoji

The 14b has put down 319 AWHP Locally to me (chicagoDSM Member).

Correction: Trey, contact Matt 95tgs. He is selling a forced performance right now in the FS section for 850.00 rebuilt.
