When setting up your desired basic boost the reading is 0.00 cm/3g.


So if i enter 8.00 on the screen I can assume that means 8 psi?


for you guys that were running stock internals what should i set my duty % at?

I was thinking 6 psi for starters and 70% duty. Is that safe for first time boosting?

second, the diagram looks funky in the manual. i have a Tial 44mm wastegate. correct me if im wrong...The (com) port side on the BC valve goes to the top barb fitting on the WG and then i run a hose from the bottom WG barb fitting back to a T section that goes back to the (NO) port on the BC and to the intake pipe?

That would mean my air source is the intake pipe and not from the mani? correct? because the diagram shows placing it before the butterfly valve in the TB.

next, where do you run the hose to from the pressure sensor? it mentioned something like between the evap canister? can it just go to a vac source on the mani like the 3 t source?

I alomst bought the apexi controller but didnt and went with the greddy version instead. my duty is 38% for 15psi. Start with high 30's and try igher settings. If the boost rises too slow then raise your duty. That is the way i understood the instructions of the apexi when i read them.

Any info you find or tips for tis boost controller, post em. there is little info on this in the search archives.

Trust me I know. I have been all over the search. the biggest thing is the install. I dont think I have ever heard anyone install theres the way the manual shows.

I just want to know before I start tapping a fitting into my intake pipe.

And its obvious the performance shop that installed it on my car didnt have a clue either they have the crusie control vac source , boost guage vac source, and brake vac source all hooked into one line that goes to the BC and to the vac source on the TB.

Well now the vac lines are easy. Search for any electronic boost controller. your solinoid is set up the same way as my greddy.

so then one of the ports does go to a fitting in the intake pipe between the turbo and the TB and not to the mani at all.


becasue someone kept saying run the line to the turbo, however unless my turbo is ass back wards i have never seen a vac port on it.

some turbo's dont have them. For the missing turbo compressor vac line you can run a vac line to the manifold OR the the compressor pipe. I would go the the manifold personally.

Do you have an internal or extenal wastegate?

I have an external Tail 44. Its currently set up to where the line is going to the manifold but every diagram im seeing is showing it before the throttle plate so the mani wouldnt work.

i dont know if there is a huge reason for why its set up this way instead of going straight to the mani but i will find someone to weld a fitting on for me and just use the pipe instead of the mani.

Can a mod Fix this title to the CORRECT AVC-R or at least AVCR so that in the future for search purposes it is relevant? I plan on buying this boost controller this year and the ability to refer back to this thread would be nice to find in the search engine. Thanks!

Ok, so from what I gathered. (Just checking with you guys)

The waste gate spring needs to be rated at the lowest amount of boost that I want to run because the AVC-R tricks it by limiting the boost the spring sees which in turn raises the boost overall.

So for stock internals I should run a spring rate of say 3-5 psi at the wastegate that way I can use the EBC to tune up to 7-8psi when im ready.

Do we have a speed sensor wire on the ECU. I redid the wiring becasue it was wrong. The AVCR has a white wire that it says to connect to the speed sensor but I cant seem to find any info on what ECU wire to hook it up to.


Is it necessary?
