Hey guys... I own a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS and i am about to order my stage 2 hahn rececraft kit... I was wondering how much is the average rebuild to turbo the 420a? some ball park figures would be really helpful.... I am looking mainly fo the prices of the parts needed... low compression pistons etc... Also i anyone has the prices they might have paid to get their kit done that would be great also... I was wondering do most people simply rebuild the motor to stock internals.. . or do yall go all out with the turbo parts... thanks a bunch

Depends, what do you want your boost level to be? What is your price range? What condition is your motor in? There are too many different factors, so there is not just one answer. Depending on your plans, is what you would need motor wise. If planning on high boost levels, or even low ones; you are going to need to do more than just rebuild your motor, depending on the condition of every aspect of your car.

just like he said. it looks like you've done some research but just not enough. i would recommend you keep the engine stock for now and run low boost until you are more familiar with your car. besides, if you plan on running a high amount of boost why go for a hahn stage 2? you will just end up replacing most parts such as ditching the craptech fpr for a vortech sfmu or better yet a portfueler or megasquirt, bigger injectors, bla bla bla..
definitely do some more research and you should also concider parting out your own kit.

i want to mak my motor be able to handle a lot of boost..
maybe 18 psi or a lil more... and plan on running it at 10
or so.... I am just trying to get ideas about how much a
build of that nature will run...
I am also going to be using a greddy front mount intercooler
which i already ordered...
I will be bolting the kit on as soon as it comes in at my
friends shop.. at a low level of boost of course.... I have
anice job... money aint the probem... And my uncle is a
mechanic... I am just trying to find out the prices of a
typical motor conversion to turbo etc... so i know basically
what to expect... I am not asking to get a fine toth comb
estimate... maybe as general as 4-5 grand or so... Thanks

If you have that much money to spend, use that as a down payment for an EVO. Seriously, that is what I would do if I could do it all over again.

I have been seriously considering trading mine in on something else recently too. I found all my receipts and made the mistake of adding everything up. Piece of advice. Make sure you absolutly want to build this thing up. Yes my car is fast but geez have I spend some money.

i have already a Greddy FMIC and a stage 3 clutchmasters modulated clutch... And i JUST ordered the hahn stage 2 kit... i am really lookin to build the block to handle 18 psi that is what i am shootin for... running it at probabally 10... money isnt really the option.. just doing the job right... I figured other people might have been in similar shoes as I am..... so i only guess that i might be able to get a ballpark on expenses and possibly labor... thanks btw... the motor is at 150k miles so i need a rebuild anywayz... thanks

Expect around $1500 in parts for the motor. Probably another grand for a dependable fuel system for that power output. Labor is free, because you're going to do it yourself... right?

Why did you order a stage 2 when you already have a FMIC? That's like wiping before you poop, it don't make any sense.

i think a stage 2 comes with a side mount only and u have to pay extra for the front mount. stage 1 doesnt come with anything.
anyways, you will most likely need to rebuild that engine soon. mine went kaboom at 100k miles, but the last owner most likely abused or sprayed it. if you don't want to waste time parting stuff and just want to blow your money, go for a bottom/top end rebuild kit

might as well send your head out for a valve job, port, polish etc..

you will need a different fuel system. buy a portfueler off hahn or a pre-assembled megasquirt off someone..

DO SOME MORE RESEARCH! MORE POWER = MORE PROBLEMS

Yeah.. I know.. He has a Greddy FMIC, why would he order a stage 2 that comes with a side mount, and piping that is routed for a sidemount? Like I said it doesn't make any sense and it was a waste of money.
