Well today i had a friend do a compression test while i was working and he came back with the numbers #1 215 #2 230 #3 210 #4 220... That seems very good being that its suppose to be between 175-225.. is this really good for a 1998 with 105k on it? because i want to turbo the car but i wanted to check the compression in each cylinder before doing anything.. maybe ill have to watch him next time but he said thats the exact numbers he read in each cylinder..

well at the same time i believe it depents on what psi you wanna run. they say 5-7 psi on a stock motor is ok, but if you get in the double digits, its best to rebuild at least your bottom end innit?

Those numbers are fine, just remember to think about what your end goals are when buying or building a kit. Do you want a 300 hp car or something less than that. This is what should be the deciding factor for your turbo kit. Also think about the other parts that you will have to replace eventually like the clutch, tranny, cv joints etc.

I blew up my stock bottom end at 7.7 psi at 5K rpms

with 12K on a rebuilt stock motor.

But I think I was washing away the rings running do effin rich with just 450's and the sfmu. Once I got the safc in there it ran so fucking nice and pulled on cars running 10+ psi.

Then I blew it up. lol

Your car should be ready for boost sir. Just be ready for the inevitable

it all depends on ur luck and how good its tuned really . i know a guy that blew his motor at 6 psi in a month . i have been running 6 psi for 2 and a half years with with no problems . then there is one guy on this board running 16 psi on a stock block . i would say dont push it past 6 psi on stock internals .

that seems to correlate with Blizarre's post, with his car running better with the SAFC

Also, since no one else has mentioned it yet, a 20 psi drop (or more) is not good, no matter how high the numbers are. Regardless, it should be fine at low boost for a while anyways. Have a backup plan just in case though (as should be with any car, or if you have two DSM's, then you need a second plan )
