ok, this is the FMIC installation, very simple, but pictures are always a good thing to have. Driggs and I are currently trying to set up a few "how to turbo" articles/instruction pages, and hopefully these photos will be usable in them

First off, remove your front fascia, bumper, and anything else that would get in your way.

Here is the sans all front bumper-esque materials:

Mount STAR FMIC through the bolt hole, using washers to get the bolt snug and the FMIC flat. Even thoughg a crooked FMIC doesnt really effect much, its less "pretty"

Place silicone coupler and 2 hose clamps on the inlet side of the FMIC and secure the FMIC side clamp. insert the proper end of the pipe into the coupler and secure other hose clamp.

Insert hook pipe into the 90 degree elbow at the bottom of the turbo, using hose clamps to secure.

insert other end of hook pipe into the front FMIC pipe you installed previously, again using silicone coupler and hose clamps to secure.

install FMIC to lower intake charge pipe, along with coupler and hose clamps.

attach the upper intake charge pipe to the lower inntake charge pipe using silicone coupler and hose clamps.

lastly, attach upper intake charge pipe to throttle body. I couldnt do this step because my upper intake manifold is currently at the powdercoaters.

a new pic will replace this one, when I get my upper intake back.

looking good Thom. now get that thing finished up so we can get the new interior in it. all it'll need is some nice fresh paint and it'll be like new.

Nicely done! I'd love to use that piping (clocked my HRC turbo and my piping is, well, kinda shitty) but I like my fog lights and I don't wanna give them up!

96 Indy Red Dodge Avenger I4 5spd
225.7whp/227.2wtq @ 10psi, currently running 12-14psi.
HRC Stage III turbo setup
JE 8.8:1 pistons
Eagle rods
block bored .020" over
GReddy FMIC w/ custom piping
1G crushed BOV
SPEC Stage 3 clutch
2.5" DP, 2.5" high flow cat, 3" ERT catback w/ Magnaflow muffler and 3" tip.
much much more...

apparently either way works, so do whatever is easier for you.
thanks for posting a pic, points for you!

Also, the bigger outlet is for the intake side, the smaller is for the turbo inlet

Malenko is correct, the top should have run to the turbo, bottom into your throttle body. The top is only 2" id, the bottom 2.25" if i'm not mistaken. I just sold mine or i'd go outside and check. I actually short routed the upper piping through the core support. There a great place beside the radiator end on the driverside to take a dremel or highspeed cutting tool to so you can short route it, it cut out nearly 3-4 ft of piping coming through the wheel well space.

400whp or bust.

Thats odd, my pipes have one coupler less then yours...
Also do all of you take off your bumpers? I mean the actual fiberglass ones behind the covers. You just leave em off?

I know this is old but I bought MR Blunt's intercooler so I figured I'd link to a pic so people can see what he was talking about:

Ivan, you prolly have the old IC setup like i have. The pipe from the IC to TB was one piece. Now they make it in 2 pieces. If you cut it ivan and use a coupler, it makes repairs ect easier.

To solve the sagging IC. There is a flashing piece d sheet metal that hangs off the frame rail over the pipes. Use a 3' zip tied to support both pipes to keep the IC level.

Terry

You seem to misunderstand me... I like progress in the form of tech articles with pictures. A lot.
I don't like "progress" in the form of changing graphics, having meetings, and adding features.

Content good. Change bad.
