Ok, I am almost through with my custom 14b set up, all I have left is manifold, oil lines, and ic piping. I was just wondering because my hours got cut back due to labor budget at Best Buy, if I could get a manifold and down pipe made and put them on without connecting the intercooler piping and keep my intake on, of course hook up oil lines? The shop is going to charge me around 500 for pipes,welding and shop time and I just don't have it right now. So I also thought that it would make the ic and pipes easier to instal if I did it this way. What does everyone think, or would it be best to just wait for 4 months or so?

Don't do that... install the entire induction system at once. Otherwise, you do risk damaging components. Never half-ass a turbo install.

You are right, what was I thinking? I guess I will just have to save up for a little bit longer. Since spring is here I will be able to work for a friend landscaping so it shouldn't take too much longer I guess. I am just ready for it.

if you really want you can piece something together temporarily out of crush bent pipes and some home depot couplers before you have the money for nice piping. That's what I did, yes its very crude looking but for the most part it works and it costed me under $50 not including the silicone elbow off the turbo. No welding involved and i'm pretty sure it leaks a little bit, but it works for low boost. as you can see, I actually used part of my CAI and there wasn't much else to it

I know it's hard, but be patient and put the complete system on right -- the first time. You can hook up everything without the i/c, but anyone with a turbocharged car will tell you it's very hard to resist the temptation to "test" it just a little. That's when you do the damage.

fly1 I think that you took it the wrong way, not sure , but I mean just have the turbo blowing to the atmosphere no piping connected because I wouldn't have any. But like I said earlier I will just wait i guess and get at least press bent.

Oops, sorry! I didn't catch that detail. In that case, I would have said, "don't" mount it yet

When I did my install I had to get my car to a shop to use thier mandrel bender. I went to midas (2min walk from my apt) and brought a 2in pipe with me. I put a 90 in it and paid them 5 bucks for letting me use thier shitty crush bender. Then I found a rad. hose with a 2in 90 degree bend in it. Went to home despot and grabed a 2in coupler and welded a bov bung on the pipe. Put it all togeather and you have a stage one!!!!! Cost me about 20 bucks and ran fine. Do not run high psi this way and dont try to use a home despot rubber coupler on the turbo. It will melt. I hate tow trucks. What a waste of money!!!
