Ok its been about a year or so since I did mine, but if I remember correctly heres what i did. I took off the rubber line of course, then went under the car and there is a hose that connects the hardline from underneath and screws into the top of the fuel pump unit. I went under there and unscrewed it from the hardline then went up top and looosened it. Then went back under the car to spin it lose. As far as breaking them lose, use two wrench and dont let the hardline bend cause it will break fairly easily. Hope this helps.

i cannot get under the car.. have no jackstands, im gona be using the school's lift next week to install my fuel lines, etc. but for now im trying to get it off the top of the fuel pump. ive totally bent my hardline so far emoji and it still won't come off.. and yes im using 2 wrenches, one on each side. its just that i dont know which side to turn each or maybe its just because its rusted and stuck somehow... im screwed.

dude that fitting is brazed on... you cannot undo it up there. you might have broken it already, and that means that it is going to leak a lot, and you will need to buy a new assembly. hopefully you are really lucky and you didn't break it, but you just cannot undo it up top. you need a jack, and you need to undo it underneath.

oh sorry.. i thought u were supposed to undo it from top... anyhow i switched car back on and checked for leaks, first it hesitated as if it wasnt getting enough fuel but i think thats because i took out the relay to empty the lines from fuel, then it went back to normal. i guess ill just wait until school starts. thx anyways ppl

i just dont get why it says to take it off from the top in the mods section emoji correct me if im wrong but for the fuel setup mod the hardline was taken off from top and bottom. i just dont get why i can't unscrew it from top.

Mine came off the top no problem. Used two wrenches like you did and mine unscrewed right off, no leaks on start up.

PB Blaster is your best friend!!!

It's like WD-40, but it's a rust penetrant (if that's even a word)

Go to auto parts place.

Get PB blaster

Soak in PB blaster

Consider problem solved.

it is braized on certain years. for instance, Jason ESi_T's was not braized (i believe his car was a '97) but on mine, a '95, it was braized. it even says as much in some old posts I searched for. i don't even know if it corresponds to a certain year of car. you are just better off borrowing or even buying a jack, $70 at most, instead of having to replace the hard line assembly, which is either $110 or $170 I can't remember

Did you get it to come off with the PB Blaster? It shouldnt be braized on there. I have a 98 and mine wasn't. It's just hard to loosen it.

WTF are you doing? You don't need to take it off *AT ALL* to install a fuel pump. I never have. (and yes, it's braized on. It'll never come off. I don't care what anyone says)

dark one i already know that its brazed (97 eclipse gs), BumpinTalon already told me that. i was trying to get it off from the bottom, so i unhooked the line from where it goes in the fuel filter by taking this bolt off. when i tried to take the whole assembly and fuel pump out it just wouldn't come out, the line was still in the way, but i noticed that theres another piece in the middle of the line which comes after the brazed thing. here's a picture but u can't see the piece im talking about cause its more into the hole.

u get what im trying to say? where did u get ur line to come out from?

I twisted and pulled. You can get it out without undoing the lines. I could, anyway. Just takes some time.

A lot of people will also cut a small slit in the sheetmetel over the tank, and fold the edges back to clear the lines. I had to do this on one car.

yea thats what i was thinking, but with fuel all over the place today i couldn't... when i took off my lines they kinda leaked a little so i don't think that would be such a good idea. gas dries up quick though don't it? cause right now car is at the school's shop, so by tomorrow u think it'll be safe?

thats actually not true dino. from what ive seen the 95's and 96's are brazed, SOME 97+ aren't like said in some other posts, and will come off. i'll take a picture of chris' assembly just for shits and giggles, but it came off no problem on his 97....and we went to swap it with his 95 and it was brazed stuck just like my 96. i too cut the floor pan to get mine out, so +1 for that. lol.

edit: cool, posted at 4:20 emoji

thats actually not true dino. from what ive seen the 95's and 96's are brazed, SOME 97+ aren't like said in some other posts, and will come off. i'll take a picture of chris' assembly just for shits and giggles, but it came off no problem on his 97....and we went to swap it with his 95 and it was brazed stuck just like my 96. i too cut the floor pan to get mine out, so +1 for that. lol. edit: cool, posted at 4:20 emoji

That's fine, but i'm going to tell everyone they're braized on anyway to keep the choads from twisting the hardlines off trying to get it apart. Playing it safe in my old age.

Ok I have a 96 RS and I planned on installing my walbro 255 this Saturday. I see that you say it is brazed and I was wondering where exactly did you guys cut you floor at in order to get it out? Pictures would be great but please post them as links and not on here because they are not big enough to see clearly.

When you look at it, it will make perfect sense where you're going to need to make the small cut.

Those people don't know their ass from a hole in the ground. I've corrected them on several things that they were wrong about on several different cars.

Sheesh, I'm surprised they don't have it. Every Autozone around me has plenty of it in stock. emoji

Clearly I dont understand what's going on here but...

Did you try unscrewing the smaller nut while holding the large nut still with another wrench? Cause that small nut is free-floating, there's a flared end on the fuel pump side. It's really not that hard. WD40 will work if there's no PB-Blaster or Liquid Wrench handy.

Ok maybe the 97's are braized but I know for a fact that mine was not braized, 98, and my friend that lives down the road from me was not either, 99. What I did was just hold the bolt on the left with a wrench(this one is the one that is braized I think,I think some people are getting them switched up) and the smaller one that is floating on the hard line with another. I held the one on the left firm and pulled back on the smaller one. I have to admit that I was scared to do it at first because of people saying that it was braized on there but I decided to do it anyway and it "poped" right off. Just had to have some force behind it.

this guy's is definitely brazed, and he keeps listening to bad advice, so my guess is he's going to break his shit if he hasn't cracked it already.

Now he should just do what we told him to in the first ten posts and undo it under the car.
