#93883, "$5000 to spend. Help plz!"

I have a 98 Eclipse GS Automatic and $5000 for performance upgrades. I know some say this is a waste of time and stupid, but I cant get an AWD GSX like I want because of a wreckless driving ticket on my record.

Anyways... I'm looking to get the most hp with the money I have. I plan on rebuilding the engine and installing a turbo kit. I've done some research and I think I will go with the hahn racecraft kit and rebuild my engine.

My friends drive a SRT-4 Neon, Evo, civic SI, eclipse gs-t, and a turbo honda prelude. Most of them are manual trans. Any opinions on how my turbo GS with auto transmission will keep up with them?

first thing i would do is swap out your trans...the auto is a piece of shit regardless of what you do to your car. The second thing would be build the engine and wire the fucker for megasquirt, the third thing would be to throw the turbo kit on and get some tuning in, then your car will be quazi fast....lolz

Shoot me a PM. If you're close to Tennessee, I can help you determine which upgrades will work best for your needs, and I can provide all the labor work as well.

extreme97nt: Would I need to buy anything else to put your engine in my car? Is yours 5 speed, auto, or does it matter? I would love to swap a 5 speed in my car, but how much more will that cost? I have a 98 Eclipse with only 58000 miles and it was driven by an old man before I got it. I dont know alot about engine/trans swaps, turbo kits, ect... so I appreciate all the help.

Whats the specs on your engine? How much hp? Keep in mind my friends have srt-4s, evos, and turbo civics... and I would like to be able to at least keep up with them! lol

with extreme97nt's motor, you'll be smoking all them, granted of course you turbo it and tune it right.

96rs-t: Isn't his engine already turbo?

wdcdta: A google search says a stock srt runs 12 and 13s... and evo is about the same.

Again... I'm trying to get the most performance and horsepower with $5000. I have auto trans but would like a 5 speed swap. I want to rebuild the engine (head work, bored, wisco pistons, JE rods, ect). I also want a turbo kit (FMIC, loud BOV).

we must have bad drivers here in las vegas because the average srt and evos run 13s to 14s here.

can somebody help me pick what to do and what to buy? Like I said... I dont know alot about engines, turbos, ect.

Now:
1998 GS
58,000 Miles
Auto Transmission
Everything on this car is stock... everything!

I want an engine rebuild, stage 2 turbo kit (more than 8psi hopefully? I'd like 10psi or more), and a 5 speed transmission.

please help!

Thanks,
billab0ng

What's the issue?

Get a rebuild.

Get a turbo kit

Get a 5 speed

Get Doug to do it for you.

Done.

sorry... dont think I asked my question clearly.

I need to know what parts to buy. My car is stock... so I guess I need cold air intake, header, exhaust, throttle body?, air fuel controller?, FMU? missing link?, ect...

I dont know what to buy first and/or what will give me the most hp with the money I have left after the turbo kit and 5 speed swap.

i thought you wanted turbo?? don't waste your money on a CAI or Header if you want to make some serious hp. You already said, you want rebuilt motor/turbo/etc/etc. You know what you want, go get it! Go to howell and buy a rebuild kit, go to hahn if you want a turbo kit (however i highly recommend piecing together your own kit), then get all the supporting mods - i.e; 3inch exhaust, injectors, sfmu/portfueler/EFI/MS. etc. etc.. There is no exact "what" to get.
