i have been turboed for a couple months now and all the sudden my a/f cuts lean when i spool fast. if i ease up boost to high rpm then shift the fuel cuts. the turbo spools up by 3200 and if i stomp on it at about 2000 and it slowly gains, its fine.it was fine yesterday but when i tried to race a 350z, i punched it in first, about 2psi, then hit 2nd, tires spin and all the sudden it crapped out. problem persists even with a missing link. same fuel press. as when it was fine. im stumped.

I'm having problems with afr leaning out when I'm just cruising and I hit the gas. It eventually kicks in but takes a second. I'm thinking my fuel filter needs to be replaced.

It really helps to have an In-car FP gauge so that you can actually see the FP drop as boost increases meaning a problem with the pump/filter/RR Fuel pressure regulator.

yeah chris i got a fuel preassure gauge in my dash you know. and it might be a bad map sensor of your's doing that. make sure you take that voltage clamp off and check you'r missing link do you have the old style or new style missing link. did you solder back the wires on your map? and make sure that your getting fuel preassure about 90psi at 5 lbs of boost with your stock injectors?

fuel pressure of 90psi?!? Really, good god that's a hit load of pressure, I thought our injectors would fail at that level. I guess thats just another reason to go stand-alone

hey tommy, that votage clamp went bad after about two weeks and fucked my shit up a little. my fault for not having an egt gauge. i bought a missing link and it bloks boost but leans out at 3 or4 psi. my fuel press. is only getting up to 80psi but it was 85 last time i cheked. guess i should check the filter but i still dont want to be on the edge of that problem. i was thinking about getting bigger injectors. what size and from what car. you said something about a mustang injector but what engine size and year?

just swaped the fuel filter and got a couple more pounds of press. but still, problem persists.

change your fuel filter, check you'r map? clean out your missing link? looks like your getting fuel preassure maybe you'r "02 sensor "is out that would make it act weird too You'r Air fuel gauge will be pegged all the way in the green if your 02 sensor is out. check you'r wires check to see if you'r plugs are not fouled up, check the "sensor "on the thermostat housing too make sure its good and clean that will make it act funny too. Any check engine lights

afr is not freaking out. so o2 sensor is good. problem is the same with or without the ml. everything else is only weeks old. coil, plugs, wires. it's only my 2nd gear spin that cuts out and man it's harsh. no other gear, no other time. anyway, the 2nd gear shift is the fastest spool up time in my run. do you think it's my fuel setup? walbro 195lph/ stock injectors/ sfmu. 50psi@idle. pressurized sfmu at idle and only get 82 psi. so its less under real load/boost. but why would it be fine @6psi last week and cut out now on only 4psi.

Man i told you that you got the wrong pump, the pump you got are for turbo ready cars like the gst, gsx , evos, etc about 90% of the board members that are turboed 420A use the 255 High Preassured Wallbro. it might be your problem using the 190 espeacially with preassures around 85psi not really sure i doubt it though. i think it has to do with your map. I know you have a small t3 and it spools up real fast but i think it has to do with something else. check all your connectors even check you'r camshaft positioning sensor make sure all your connectors are good. does your car drive normally without going into boost? if it does drive normally than is the wastegate acting up. when you say cutting fuel do you mean it cuts the car off and jerks. a map sensor seeing boost may cause this not all 95 and 96 420A need or not need a missing link but having a missing link is insurance. clean out the missing link? get a volt meeter and check if your map is seeing boost have someone rev it and check the voltage. i think the map cuts boost at 5 volts your turbo is pretty small so i think you can rev it and get at least 1 lb of boost by reving it. did you re solder the wire when you took the voltage clamp off if you didn't you need too?

i was reading all the threads and noticed someone stated,"95s and 96s don't need a fcd. ml or vc." cause my afr don't lean out under slow build-up w/out ml.

Another thing to check (Just go back to basics) does the fuel pump have solid wiring, did you upgrade to larger wires when you installed the pump? Are all the hose connections right? You know you can achieve 82psi right, at what volume? Did you check for all possible vacuum/boost leaks? Check connections to SFMU? What disc are you running? It's usually the stupidest thing that causes the problem, you just have to find it.

like i said. the ml makes the af go lean at 4psi. porbly not enough fuel press. w/out ml, boosts rich to five or six. it is definately fuel cut. when it cuts, the car jerks like a misfire from hell and the afr freaks out. ive been stupid enough to do it four times so far. two of those times the engine died and would not start for five min. the wastegate is finally working pretty good and im sure that wouldn't cause this. double checked the fmu and all vacume lines. set fuel press. to 55/60 and raises to 82/85 by 3/4psi. the car runs fine all the time boosting or not, this major hicup is the only one. tomorow i'll solder the map wire. and check that out. do you guys think if i just got bigger injectors i would be ok. btw, when the fuel cuts and it dont die, it sputters like its only running on 2cyl. it takes five or six secs. for it to stop. also, my bov leaks at about 3/5vpsi. the pipes are boosted and the manifold isnt yet cause im not into it. would this be considered a boost leak prob? the leak obveously stops at o-psi.

well, after putting the sfmu line strait to the intake manifold, (instead of a tee),readjusting the sfmu, and putting on check valves for things that don't need boost. my problem is gone for now, but i dont think its permanent. when i put press. in the sfmu, the fuel press would pin out to 100psi then go down to 82/85psi. doyou think that when i hit second, the fmu pins out for a split sec. like that, the injectors start to jam? only a thought. i tried to set it to where it didn't do that. well i don't have a computer anymore so it might be a bit til im back on.

my problem is back, i made one pass beating an h22 prelude. sweet. then the sec pass, craped out. my car wouldn't start back up until i unpluged the coil and pluged it back in. does anyone have injectors they can sell me? 310/ 450cc. anything bigger than what i have now. (stock 195cc)

well, i got the walbro 255 hp installed and adjusted my fuel press. to 100-103 @ 5PSI. PUT ON MY ML. STILL, fuel cut. i think its cutting spark at the same time, dont know for sure. but every time it cuts and stalls i have to unplug the coil and plug it back in before the engine will start. can the knock sensor do this? someone told me maybe your boost is making the engine knock and its to bad of a knock to just pull timing so it just kills the engine. is this possible?

you keep that in mind cause i cant figure this one out. im using the ml. ill check comp. tomorow. 99.9% sure timing is fine. my plugs show very minor detonation and lots of carbon build-up. detonation and rich at the same time? its getting worse. maton wants to set me up with the megasquirt+spark. what do you think. i know its limited to advancing only but atleast i can keep at zero. im so frustrated with this problem. nobody knows why it does what it does. in the meantime, ill try to come up with 4g's.

there's not a single aftermarket turbo anything out here. i'm not going with the megasquirt, read too much and it's still confusing. i'm going to try to get injectors pretty soon. maton thinks my injectors might be overheating and jamming. it's worth a try. what ford injectors will fit without frying my ecu? lightning 42# and superbird 32# ? anything in between? i'd like to buy your car but dont have the money now. maybe later.

yeah chris check ebay for high impedence injectors usually mustangs etc, as soon as i get my rear bumper back on I'm gonna sell this car asap, my 500HP integra is in the works homie.

You're on the right track upgrading from the stock 235cc/min injectors to 30lb/310cc injectors... but theres more to it than that.

I bet you have a boost leak, causing the car to run so rich it floods and hits fuel cut. If you don't have the air to match the rising fuel rate, then you'll run pig rich and ecu will override.

i have a missing link, so it can't be the map sensor. also, the sfmu is getting the same press. as the engine. they both get air from the im. i used i whole bunch of injector cleaner cause i was desperate, i can go through a whole gear now. i havn't hammered it yet. those 30#ers are on the way.

got those 30#rs in and now it sputters when i first start it, and it sputters one time when i hit the gas. my idle press. is 22psi. 80psi@ 9pounds of boost. think the injectors are just dirty or bad. i bled out a bunch of air from the rail, not sure if i got it all yet.

Did you pressurize your intake & intercooler piping? To what psi? Where was the air leaking?

the air was in the fuel rail. i bled it out. still leans out for a sec. when i first hit the gas. i ran the car at idle and set the baseline pressure @ 22psi then i set an air compresor to 9psi then put that press. into the sfmu and set the bleed valve to 80psi. does the tps need to be adjusted to the bigger injectors? has anyone else experienced this?

first, i'd like to thank everyone that helped me with all of my problems in this thread. well, my baseline press. was not 22psi, it was 15. i made the mistake of setting idle press. without having the sfmu hose conected to the im. the press @ 0psi was 22. when i put the hose on it dropped to 15 cause the 25psi-vac. i cought it, now its running good. thanx verry much guys. 9psi- here i come.
