Ok when i bought the turbo i didnt even notice the crack i dont think they were even there cause i looked it over first. I havent put it on m y car yet but the other day i was looking at it and noticed 4 small hairline cracks in the flapper side and 4 cracks in the other side of the flapper butthe 4 on the inside are on the wall is this normal? Is this going to hinder it boosting if anyone can help let me know.

You say don't port that??? Really??? Hmm I was wondering the same since I was looking for a used 14b and had the same question. But I thought perhaps porting it would "cancel out" what the cracks may cause (boost creep/spike? or just plain lack of boost).

cracks are structural, porting them will not solve the problem. The cracks are pretty normal for the 14b. I would not sweat them too much.
I have never seen a 14b with cracks that caused lack of boost or creep. Im not saying that its not possible, but in all the cars w/tubos i have yet to see the cracks cause prolbems.

wow. That sure looks like it would affect the performance of the turbo. I'm still looks for a 14b that doesn't have any cracks in it because I'm afraid of the boost leaking out the wastegate flapper, and then somehow the wastegate not opening at what it's set to and........BOOM! goes my stock internals. Plus it would seem like it affects the spool time since the crack leaks. Anyone???
