i installed the little black box from the star kit and for about 9 or so months nothing wrong. one day when i would hit boost it would fuel cut bad and at ideal it was wanting to die. so i took it off just so i could drive with out it stalling. when i took it off all back to normal. i can boost and everthing. i thought with it off my car would not run right. runs better with out it. car 99'gs 10th

If you ease into boost after 2 sec your car will throw a CEL and react to the map voltage being over 4.7V. The Star black box is notorious for going bad which is why a few of us use the Missing link or a Custom FCD.

you can get away with boosting every now and again but eventually your ecu will see the boost and you will get fuel cut. you need a missing link or fcd with a 1999....

i have a spare fcd if you need one, PM me if you want it.

yes im pretty sure if you have the safc you still need a fcd, some way to not let the ecu freak out under boost. Of course I don't have either of those so I can't say for sure (thank goodness for 95's)

Yes, if you're not a 95, you need a FCD or ML. Even with the SAFC.
