#91614, "Fuel.... FPR's FMU'S SFMU?"

I'm gonna ask this, I just am lost with it just because I have never had it explained to me or read it anywhere. I am going to install the Aeromotive 1:1 fpr (if that's best) and the Greddy emanage with the injector harness and pressure sensor, my questions are, how the hell does an SFMU or FMU or the Aeromotive fpr work? I know they make the fuel pressure go up with boost, but what does 1:1 mean? and what's the difference between all of them. Since I am using the emanage, how does the aeromotive 1:1 work better than the fmu or sfmu? I'm jut about to be finished with turboing my car, but I really want to have everything covered on how things work. The SFMU can tune idle pressure, static pressure, and then whichever spring, disc, and ring you used depends on how the boost curve will look. If I use the aeromotive 1:1 work like that with the emanage? I would really appreciate it if someone could answer these questions. Oh and HAPPY THANKSGIVING.

I had the same question about a 1:1 FPR:

That was perfect, thanks for the link, I understood everything, awesome. Ok, now for this question, if I am using the aeromotive 1:1 and the Greddy emanage with the injector harness and the additional MAP sensor, is there going to be some major tuning happenning? The car will start up and idle once I get the pressure set on the FPR right? After that, do I boost with nothing done to the emanage with just the Aeromotive 1:1 and then tune everything with the emanage after a run or two? I am just really afraid that I'm gonna blow up my car. If I do need to tune before everything is started up, what is supposed to be preset for my car to run? Here's what I got, 440cc injectors, emanageW/inj. harness and pressure sensor, and the fuel system has been setup for the return already. Thanks for the help so far.

Most standalones have an automatic base map calibration tool, which would give you a decent base map so you can start tuning at low throttle conditions. If you don't have a wideband O2 though, I would recommend skipping all that, installing the e-manage, getting the car started, and then towing it to a dyno shop to have it professionally tuned (expect to pay a good deal).

Yeah, I have a WB O2 the Zeitrornix zt2 with the EGT as well. So, the emanage will have basse maps to start out with? It's just a piggy back system by the way, not a stand alone. Thanks tons for the help guys.

Hello?? Does anyone know if the emanage has basemaps? I boubt it would, but how would you go about having a baseline to tune with an aeromotive 1:1??

Jeffo,
I've been running the emanage for a while now on my car and 440's. It will start right up, just be sure you correct for the injector change. I haven't had the best of luck with it at idle on occasions. It will tend to start rough and run rich, or try to die. I'm going to be installing the 1:1 aeromotive in about 3 weeks when I get back in town. Hopefully this will fix my fuel pressure problems. I was also having problems with my boost controller not dialing in (profec e01) on the second pull, I was getting almost a cut or a wastegate coming open really early until I would finally blow a vaccum hose.

That's neither here nor there, I'm assuming the 1:1 will fix a lot of problems. The base map on the emanage is essentially the stock map of the ecm on your car. Since it's a piggy back computer, it will only modify the base map of the car. Hence without any modifications, the car will be running under base conditions.

Hope that helps-

Can you boost at all after start up, or do you have to go really easy on it? I'm just not understanding how to tune it without boosting, and if it's not tuned, how do you boost and not damage anything? I'm just new to this.

hey pm me your questions, or if you have msn messenger, look mine up.

Yes you can boost on it, just watch your egt's. up the boost, and as you see yourelf getting lean, adjust your injector map by ading more fuel where your getting lean at. It's not too tough, just takes a little practice and work. I'm not sure how far you can go on 440's, I wouldn't push it past about 18 lbs. I was running 16 lb without too many problems, other than my fp was a little whacked. Hopefully it will all be fixed.

Talk to me later on msn
