Hey there, im kind of new to the performance side of my car and im trying to see what is the max boost i can run safely with the engine/ modificaions i have now. ive tried nuemerous times to search on this subject.
My engine that i have in my car right now that i just purchased from a friend is basically stock, it has EAGLE H-beam rods and a OEM 4 layer head gasket, and it is running stock pistons , and an ACT 2100 clutch. For the turbo setup that i am running i have a 1st gen side mount, tubular exaust manifold, big 16 g turbo and OBX FMU 12:1 ratio and a walbro 255LPH fuel pump/ 390cc injectors, and lastly a HKS ssqv BOV.
Currently i am running at 10 psi. If someone could help me out or if any feedback on a safe max boost i could run with my setup that would be greatly appriciated.

you don't want to go anymore than that on stock pistons, the ringlands will break, if i were you i'd turn it down to maybe 8psi and turn it up to 10 if ur gonna race. Theres a lot of information on here about boosting a stock motor so just keep searching
damn what a waste! h-beam rods with stock pistons...now you gotta pull out the engine again when those pistons go. anyway since you're new with the tuning world. keep it safe at 8psi, your FMU's disk is too high for 390cc's, it needs to be 6:1. you're gonna be extremely rich(too much fuel)when you boost.
I would agree 10 is pushing it, especially with how you're running extremely rich right now. Stick with 8 if you're going to be unable rebuild it when a piston breaks. Stock pistons crack very easily and the more boost you run, the more prone you will be to detonation. I don't understand why whoever rebuilt that engine with performance rods and stock pistons, oem pistons are the weakest link. Also he is right about the fuel. 12:1 FMU is for stock injectors which are around 200cc. So you're definetally running rediculously rich, i'd be surprised if it was actaully running properly under boost. I would work on fixing that asap. Anyhow, I like your car, looks nice! good work. Good luck with the turbo. I'd like to see a pic of your manifold. It's always nice to see new custom 2gnt turbo manifolds.
