#91045, "I need some pics and help with 3" exhaust"
Oct-30-05 10:17 AM by DJ420a

Ok heres the prob. Im making a 3" exhaust for the car. I have no probs making it, considering I made my 2.5" exhaust.
Im running into 2 problems:
1. I need to see some pics of how a 3" dp is setup. Mines seems as if my wastegate and flange are going to be in the way, so Im thinkn Im gonna need to relocate the wastegate, but not sure.
2. The flange I have and the flanges Ive looked into only excepts a max of 2.5". Mine seems that if I bore it out to work with a 3" dp, it will only have roughly 1/16" rim around the edge to weld to. I have a feeling that wont hold up too long to heat and vibration.

So if you 3" guys can lend a hand and some pics, I would greatly appreciate it.

TIA
DJ

since i have a star kit also this should help you. 3" my design as well.

I ceramic coated mine so thats why it looks like that. My wastegate is welded into the DP. Also i have the Tial 38mm and it fits the same.

So what do you have, roughly 3" between the WG flange and the DP? If so, have you had any probs with it cracking from the DP heating up and cooling down? See I was thinkn about exactly what it looks like you did, but I was worried about movement from temp changes.

Thanx, great pix

Hey Terry, is your downpipe just straight down from the top bend to the bottom one?? Having trouble wording it, but etx's 3" downpipe has another bend in it like a kink between the top bend (from the turbo) and the bottom one that sends it to the cat. Does yours just come straight down, or do you have a better pic of the dp out of the car?

DJ 420.....no probles with the wastegate welded into the DP

Bumpin, i do have another picture, let me get it hosted after work and i will post it for you. The DP does not come straight down, the bend at the top is more than 90 degrees so the pipe comes down on an angle and ends up right were the DP is routed under the oil pan. I will get you the pisture of it our of the car on the old motor. My DP is 2 pieces guys.

haha errm yeah my question made no sense... probably should have just asked if there was another bend between the top one and the bottom one, or if it was just a straight pipe connecting the two. Even still I am not sure if that makes sense emoji
Oh well, let's see the pics!
