I've been turbocharged for over a a year and I have never even seen close to 1400. I keep reading everyone at 1450-1575. Mind won't get that high no matter what I do. I have a VDO EGT gauge. Do you think I need two get a better probe

The probe is in the #4 runner on the manifold. The EGT at idle is about 850 is this normal. On the highway in boost it's about 1050-1100. It never worried me because I knew EGT redline was 1600. But being to low can that be a problem. I have been turbo for 1.5 years.
Since when is being TURBO an indication of a forged bottom end......this goes right along with the assumption that a rebuilt motor is forged.
my 96 Talon Average EGT cruising ona stock bottom end was 1300 at the worst. under boost it was higher. Lower EGT indicates advanced timing or rich mixture.

Ok since I have been reading more and more about egt temps and how they are higher with a lower compression engine it has made me a bit weary.
Ok first off my probe is tapped right before the flange where all 4 come together...I bought the turbo kit used so I did not tap it there, I would of tapped it outside of the #4. I am only running 7psi w/ a fmic. My temps are as follows:
Now just keep in mind where my probe is tapped and if I am going to need some form of water injection or some other method of lowering my EGTs. About just how much will the EGTs go up going from a stock compression to say 8.8:1?
By next month I will be building a lower compression motor and this has me worrying about my EGTs now.
Water injection will make a difference. Not sure how much because i am not running it; that with a stock bottom will do it. If you build a forged bottom then it will warm up a bit but the water inj should keep it down too.
Post some picts of your water setup in a new post and how you did it. Many people would be interested in this. A writeup for the mods section of the main page would be a good addition as well.
I posted some info a bit back. I email someone some pic to post. But no one would give me any info on how to post pic and what not. some I left it a that. Search water injection you sould find the post. It was in july when I posted it. I can post some stuff again If someone tells me how
i have water injection in mine i noticed a little difference in temps then again watching gauges for significant changes while driving is a little tough for me so it may have been more there is pics of my setup in the tech article section of dsmtuners
