...tearing it up in WA. I'm running a Star stage 2 on a forged bottom end, with an 8 injector setup (390cc secondaries.) Also Crane 14s and SS valves. My GTech says it's making about 225 whp at 15 psi, 8.6:1 compression. Is this good, or should it be more? I've got cam gears I could play with, but no cash for dyno time, datalogger, wideband, EGT gauge, etc. I basically tuned it with the seat of my pants and Corbin's air/fuel gauge. Anyone think I should turn it up some more, or should I keep tuning? I'm running 92 octane. All opinions welcome, especially if your setup is similar to mine.

I'm no expert but that looks really low to me. I have seen people net more power than that on 15psi

Gtech is crap, i trust is as much as i trust a crackwhore in a room full of guys with crack.

You need all those things you listed that you can't afford: a wideband, an EGT, a fuel pressure gauge.. without those, you're basically blind and no one can help you, not even yourself.

OK, well I have a fuel pressure gauge, of course. I'm using a 1:1 regulator as outlined in Corbin's writeup, so pressure is where it should be with 8 injectors. So what should I buy first, an EGT gauge, a datalogger, or a wideband?

I would get a wideband that comes with datalogging capabilities. Get those afr's straight, then the egt's to follow when you can afford it. That's how I'd go about it.

No I would not recommend turning it up anymore on that octane rating. But not to beat a dead mule...you do need those items in order to get yourself a good tune. BTW...have you notice any black smoke?

Wow, 300 whp at 16 psi? I guess I have a lot of tuning to do. As far as black smoke, it used to do that while I was dialing the fuel system in, but I haven't noticed any for a while now. My o2 sensor will read anywhere from .93 to 1.00 depending on how much boost and how much load on the engine, and it fluctuates through the RPM range, too. I guess I'm in the market for a wideband.

Tim97, I'm NW of Yakima, out in the middle of nowhere. Nice to hear from somebody local, it's kind of rare.

Thanks for the advice, guys.

Sounds like fun, I may drive over there after I change my oil this weekend. I went to an autocross in Bremerton one time, but it was mostly Porches and Miatas and such.

I suppose I should have answered your question as well. EGT and Wideband are REALLY good to have.
