YES!

>I know testpipes add some hp..but

Close, I am sure there is a difference since the exhaust doesnt go straight thru but it goes in to the hollow car and then back out. There could be some change in the flow but the gains are going to still be noticed.

>How exactly do I gut
>a cat..and

Take it off and use a long screw driver to break the stuff inside it. Pretty easy, rip out the metal mesh if you can too.
.

..haha Will I

>hehe

YUP!! I can do it N/A so I know you will with a Stage V. Plus if you have an MSD Stage Rev limit set up you will sometimes when you stage. I can make a REALLY BIG flame while I am driving and flip on the Staging Rev Limit and floor the gas and then flip it back off. A lot of unburned fuel dumps through and then BOOM!!!!!

Hey fast420a did you ever get that ignition system to work without the CEL coming on??? My bike has a stutter box on it and I make it shoot a 9in flame by doing the same thing. I always get oohs and aahs from it. I love that damn thing.

I have read that gutting your cat can actually be harmuful to performance. Why?

Because you're effecting the smoothness and the countours of the exhaust path and the ever important exhaust gas velocity. Keep that in mind when you forgo buying a cheap high flow cat and decide to gut it.

might be psychological but, I noticed my turbo spools up alot faster and its more notable from inside the car.

Ok I have a gutted cat and don't have no flames emoji but I don't have an ignition timing system unit yet...so thats probably why...anyways...I did feel a nice increase in power when I did gut the cat...but its not that great....Just my opinion though...

LAST EDITED ON 09-Nov-01 AT 04:13 PM (PST)

I shoot flames sometimes when I shift at 7200rpms RIGHT before the fuel cut.

Still have the CEL and no adapter hooked up to the MSD. Oh well.

My gawd, if I could get a digital camcorder to use for a day, I'd upload some killer footage of my car shooting hella flames. Constantly when I'm staging and after every hard shift. I gotta get my shit tuned! Rich is good to a certain extent but I am way past that extent... I get like 125-175 miles to the tank and shot flames driving normally.

Mark, definately gut your cat out, damn man, I cant believe you've been running 25 lbs of boost with a stock cat! I think that has been holding you back a lot, and it probably could cause damage to your engine at that high of boost.

Yup I have thought about doing this and also getting the pacesetter piping and a cherry bomb resonator to rid my car of the buzz from no res/cat. The exhaust smells really rich and sticks BAD.
