I was thinking it might be cheapin to go this way. I have an extra stock exhaust manifold lying around, can i just chop off where it bolts to the engine, take that and have my friend that has a pipe bender and a bunch of stuff try to make me a custom manifold to fit my very odd turbo???? Its an IHI turbo and I'm not sure what it came off of, but i think this might be the way to go to create a custom manifold. Any input??? I'm just running low boost and i have the following parts
-IHI turbo with a different manifold, internal wastegate and piece that connects to whatever cars downpipe
-some BOV off the same car the turbo came from
-2g Stock SMIC
-Apexi' SAFC II
I believe I need the following things:
-Some sort of aftermarket injectors
-Vortec Fuel Management Unit (Do I still need this if I have the SAFC II)
-Custom piping (My friend with the pipe bender will do this for me.)
A few questions then:
Because of all these things, will a custom made manifold work for this project??
Anything I left out that is a complete necessity to run NO HIGHER than 7 or 8 psi or what is safe on stock internals??

I guess I'll be nice... 1. Try it out and see what happens. 2. Need bigger injectors unless planning on running extremely high Pressure 3. Yes, need FMU of some sort.

You can actually boost up to 7-8psi on the stock injectors with only a 12:1 Vortech FMU. Any more then that, and you need a better fuel controller and bigger injectors.

As far as the manifold goes, just buy a flange and save yourself a LOT of grief. A tubular mani is a great idea, but if making a whole new manifold from all new pieces is out of your price range (Expect to pay at least $40 for a good flange, get 1/2" CNC machined if at all possible, 3/8" is your next choice NOTHING THINNER), consider getting an adapter plate made at your local machine shop. You will need to bring them either the manifold and turbo or the gasket for the stock manifold->downpipe connection and the gasket for the turbocharger inlet (depends on the shop really, some here wouldn't take just the gasket), and then they will machine a nice adapter plate for you that will let you bolt the turbo to your stock exhaust manifold. If your car has AC, this will probably not work because of clearance problems, without AC it may very well work but I cannot guarantee it will clear the power steering. Otherwise, you can contact alain on this forum. He builds custom manifolds, I think he would charge you either $300 or $400 I can't quite remember.

i got an adapter plate made to fit an ihi rhb5 subaru turbo on to my stock mani with my old turbo setup. non intercooled 8 psi i ran a 14.3 on shitty tires. ive now moved on to a 14B on stock mani and side mount greddy i cooler . im running it this sat at track ill let u know what i do. but it will be somewhere in the 13's , its much faster now than it was .
