#89700, "Only hitting 14.4 @ 97mph with 14psi of boost?!"

I'm having problems figuring out why I'm only hitting 14.4@97 with 14psi. I was running 7psi on my stock motor and getting 14.8@93 consistently, and I hit 95 mph before on stock motor with 7psi. I cannot figure out what the deal is here. I know I should be running over 100mph 1/4's. My o2 readings are between .93-.98 and timing slopes from from 15º at 4000rpm up to 22º at redline. Intake temps are good, around 110º durring pulls. I'm running 440cc injectors with 2.72" disc in the SFMU with bleed valve totally closed. I opened the bleed valve 1 turn yesturday and did a pass and didn't get much of a difference in my trap speed, actually lowered it by ~2mph. I DONT KNOW WHY ITS SO SLOW. I'm going to do a compression test today, but im fairly certain everything is fine. I do have alot of oil in my IC lines that I believe is comming from the breather line on the valve cover that goes to my intake pipe, and I'd imagine sucking in that oil durring combustion would cause a problem, but I'm not sure about an 8 mph difference. I think I should be hitting at least 105mph. Any suggestions?! Is the 2.72 disc with bleed valve closed way too rich? HELP I'm not pleased with the performance im getting out of this car at all.

That MPH does seem a little low for that boost...At 15 psi boost, S16G, with a 2.4 60ft, I can pull a 14.1 @ 105 MPH. I get terrible traction in 1st and 2nd gears. I also use my Profec B spec II to run 10 psi in 1st and part of 2nd gear, then go to 15 psi for better low gear traction. You could really benefit from a wideband o2 sensor, and even something like the Megasquirt to dial in the fuel and ignition. Check for boost leaks too, as those can effect performance also. How is your driving? Are you shifting quickly? 60ft times? Traction?

He does have a wideband.

.98 is pretty rich though, on your nbo2, I thought you should always be aiming for around .93-.94 on nbo2.

If I were you, I would try opening your bleed valve maybe a tad bit more on your SFMU and see what happens.

Or you could go another route and get a used s-afc for fine tuning (i know this helped me out a shitload actually) or go with the MSnS or portfueler or something.

He has a wideband? Well what was the A/F then? .98 means nothing. A narrow band o2 is NOT accurate out of stoich(14.7:1 A/F). It just shows that you are running "richer than stoich". How much, it's up to interpratation. At 14-15 psi, you want A/F in the 11's. Mid 11's would be just fine. BTW, that A/F on a narrowband o2 is almost 1.0 volts. But that still is not an accurate way to find A/F. I would NOT lean it out unless you can see your actual A/F ratio. At those boost levels, detonation can set in pretty quickly, esp if you are on pump gas. What were your EGT's like?

Also, i would not run a breather line from the VC to the turbo inlet pipe..just run a catchcan. You could be sucking in oil from the VC.

My wideband gauge is across country at AEM getting repaired. I never got to use it, so I don't know the exact A:F. I'm pretty sure its close right now. My 60' was 2.2 for 14.4, and good traction. I'm a pretty good driver when its running right. I'm going to make a catch can today. Could oil being forced into the intake cause a performance problem? Also my turbo is a t3 with 60 trim compressor wheel. I've noticed it makes a nasty rattle/buzz when I let off the throttle, I'm not sure what that is.

If your breather line is going to your uicp then yes, you need to get that catch can made right away. You're taking forced air from the turbo that is meant to go str8 into the tb, but instead some of it is pressurizing the crankcase emoji

Here are some pics of the catch can I made for <$30...LOWES KNOWS:

I also got my uego wideband in and wired it up. It's reading --- at wot, I think its way rich. I'm going to open the bleed valve a bit. I must be running richer than 10:1. I believe thats as low as the gauge reads.

Got it down to 11.1-11.5, hit 12 in higher rpms. What should I be shooting for. I was told 12-12.5 would probably be peak power, but that was from a WRX guy. Feels like it pulls a bit harder now. I opened the bleed valve about 2 turns to get it into a readable range. I was also only getting like ~55psi fuel pressure at 14psi of boost on the 440s. Seems a bit low but i'd imagine the wideband doesn't lie. It was also kind of dark so I couldnt exactly read the un-lit gauge from my windsheild wiper, so it may have been higher. The sensor for the wideband is located at the back of my downpipe about 6" in front of my test-pipe.

At 14 psi, 11.5-11.7:1 should be just fine. I run around 11.8:1 at 15 psi, and EGT's can get a bit hot if i stay on it for a while..but i'm talking about 5th gear WOT emoji

Depends on your timing and torque curve. With stock cams and ignition detonation is very likely to happen around 3000-4000 RPM's when you add boost pressure. You will want to be very rich around there, like somewhere around 11.5:1 but ~12.0:1 as redline comes up is fine.

my wastegate wasnt closing all the way, i fixed it today, and now I'm getting over 16+psi and it detonates like crazy after 15psi. Wideband reads pretty rich but my knock sensor is disconnected. I'm going to plug that back in and richen it up a bit and see what happens.

Campbell Hausfeld IronForce Series 1/4" NPT Mini Air Filter
http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=221024-1126-IFA106&lpage=none

That's the filter I got. It's a mini air filter that you'll find in the air compressor section. It has 1/4" npt female ports on each side. I then got a 3/16 x 1/4 npt to barb fitting for each side, some thick 3/16 id hose that wouldn't collapse under vacuuum, and some little hose clamps to keep the connections tight. When I phucked my chit, my pcv valve line blew open, so I went ahead and replaced it with that same type hose too.

Its kind of hard to understand that datalog, but is that timing right? Because if it is, that seems like really low timing unless someone can correct me
