hey guys, i'm planning on going with MS eventually once i'm turbo'd so for now i'm gonna install a 1:1 fpr. i read that i hafta disable the stock fpr on the end of the rail, correct? from corbin's writeup it looks like i just hack it and put it back in so the internal return line gets exposed directly to the fuel rail pressure, right? as far as the plumbing what did you guys do? SS lines? what kinda fitting is the return line off the rail?

sorry for all the questions. i searched but there weren't too many threads that were 95 specific.. emoji

also what kinda fpr's are the MS guys running? anything besides aeromotive? are most fpr's 1:1 unless they say otherwise?

the fitting off the fuel rail is a barbed hose fitting, I think it is a 3/16" but I can't really say for sure... I don't have my car here to run out and check on. You don't really need braided lines, they are expensive, and hard to fit into the whole deal. Just stick with hose, but make sure it is fuel injection hose since just regular fuel line hose will explode under boost. As well, the stock fuel return line is a steel line that is also a barbed hose piece, this one is the same size as the return line 3/16", and getting a braided line to run all the way back to the tank is expensive especially since this stock line works fine.

Aeromotive is the most popular for FPRs for most cars, it seems. They make a great product at a very good price. Just stick with one of them, they are tried tested and true.

...none emoji
if you want to run using just a FPR, you are only going to be raising fuel pressure by 1psi for every psi of boost. For a 2gnt turbo setup that is not using something to electronically add more fuel, like a piggyback or standalone type deal, we using rising rate FMUs that add more like 12psi of fuel pressure for every psi of boost just to cram that much extra fuel through the injector when it is open (it is not the best way to do things).
with only a 1:1 FPR, you will lean out under boost quite badly. I suppose if you drove around under 3000rpm and never spooled your turbo, you would have no problem. Either that, or stick your wastegate open somehow so it won't let the turbo spool.

If I were you I would wait to install the 1:1 till you are squirting. As for your current setup you are on a rising rate FPR now right? If so then when you get the squirt, take your current hook ups and send them to the new FPR.

Well you could throw the 1:1 in now but your ECU will just have to lean things more as you get closer to 0psi. I wouldn't worry about it though the fuel system is the easy part to install. Now doing the squirt and pre running wires is a great idea, then when you are ready just tap your sensors and go.

i thought the 1:1 doesn't do anything to your fuel system until you hit boost? you just bypass the stock FPR and set your idle with the aeromotive, right?

Yea but I think what he's getting at is that alothugh it's not going to hit 1 psi, it's still reading manifold pressure and It might cause it to dump in a bit more fuel and the ecu will try to compensate for that.

i think thats what he means :p
