I completed installing my turbo over the weekend. It's mostly a Star kit except for the IC piping, intercooler, & Tial wastegate. When I test drove it, it drove just as it did before the turbo...NO BOOST. My boost gauge never went higher than 0-hg. I checked all lines and piping but found no leaks. I checked my wastegate and notice that it doesn't completely close. There's about 1/10" space all around that valve where exhaust can leak. It doesn't look like it's made to completed close because the valve looks a tad smaller than the opening. Is there an adapter or something that I should have that connects to the wastegate flange on the manifold that would seal the gap? I'm just fishing here because I really don't know what's wrong with this damn car.

By the way, I "searched" my way through the whole install. So thanks to anyone who ever posted something worthwhile in this forum because I'm sure I've read it.

Wastegate not closing entirely could definetally be your problem. It should be closed.

well I just did some searching and I found that there is a metal o-ring or valve seal that fits in the wg between the manifold. I got the wg used and I don't think it came with that piece. That may be why I never heard the turbo spool.

if its a tial, i might have an extra. i had the same problem, but i would hit at least a pound or two.

Well, I got the valve seal today and I finally have boost. I'm getting exactly 5psi. I like the extra topend power but I guess I expected a little more... but it will do for now. It starts building boost around 3100rpm. My only other issue is my bov kinda sounds like I'm choking a turkey. At first I thought I was hearing compressor surge. Here's a pic of my setup.

nice! did you get the seal from fp? the sound you were hearing was probably compressor surge. i use the turbo xs rfl and i ended up switching my vac lines around to get it to blow-off proper. i thought the type-s bov have an adjustment valve on top. did you play around with that yet?

yeah...i got it from FrocedPerf. with a minimum order of $20 and 2 day air shipping, it came to $43.

as for the bov. I backed the adjustment screw nearly all the way out and it blows off when it should. I even hear it a little if a let off the throttle at like a lb or 2. But at 5lbs it still kinda flutters... right now the signal line is t'd into the egr vac line along with the boost gauge. I'll try to figure another way to run the signal line although it seems like I already tapped everything.
