#88556, "Fuel Pressure (story also)"
Aug-08-05 01:12 PM by gilee_8

Sup guys, before I ask a question, I wanna say I just SMOKE my first "ASS HOLE CIVIC PEOPLE and Mustang" today.
I was on the left lane waiting for a red light, and these two stupid ass CIVIC and Mustang pull up next to me (on a turn right only lane).
OF course, they try to cut me. so Fine, I am still tunning my car, so fxxk the civic. They keep looking at me, and I am like...stupid loud ass civic.

As the light turn Green, the civic shoots out, and so does the mustang. I was like...NOT YOU MUSTANG!
As I was going slowly at first, they both infront of me. I shift the third, and step on to it. MAN, the car pulls! (at 10.8PSI)
I keep going and they just "zoom zoom by me" (haa haa) then somehow my car just DOESN"T GO ANYMORE... like I step in all the way, but NOTHING.. no acceleration. can it be the wastegate (preset 10PSI) has reached it's limit, so it open WIDE, so no more acceleration?? so that's it? or fuel cut? but I thought fuel cut will be choking or whatever...??? it just STOP going. so I shift to 4th (then I was going at 6xmph already.) then I stoped (since it's a 40mph road)...

Now my questions are:
afterward, I look at the peaks from my gauges. MY EGT max is at: 1530F, Boost at 10.8PSI, and fuel pressure is at 80PSI.
Is it a good tune? I didn't get a chance to look at my A/F. also I got my datalogger hookedup. but didn't click on LOGGING. so it didn't.

I am running Walbro 255, SFMU, with 31lb injectors. so?

About that SUDDEN "no acceleration" what's up with that?
I checked my car afterward, no leaks, no smoke, nothing... all good.
Please give me your opinions!
Gil

thats what it sounds like to me, IC piping leak = back to n/a = slow as balls = "sudden no acceleration"

Sup guys.
Yes, you guys are right! the IC pipe popped off.
So that solved the problem.

Well can someone tell me if the fuel Pressure I have is correct?
80PSI fuel pressure at 10.8 PSI of boost. (using 31LB injectors)

Thanks for info.

Sup guys.
I am using Silver Spring and the largest disk (3.xx inch)
I also have bleed valve setup.

Well, the problem is, I have everything setup, just that BEFORE I GET INTO BOOST. like under 0PSI, my EGT goes up high!!

I did some adjustment. and seems like I was running SUPER RICH BEFORE. now is better, I mean I can drive above 55mph without staying at 1580F, but still not good.

now I tune down to 30-31PSI for static, and it's much better.
But it still stay around 1530 at crusing (like flat road with a SMALL incline or decline)

The funny thing is. I usually drive up to 40mph with 3rd gear, then to 60MPH with 4th gear, then to 5th gear upper. but my EGT will go up and up and for example, if I stay at say 55mph with 4th gear, and keep it there, my EGT will NOT GO BACK DOWN, and stay around 1500F (at crusing, on flat road).
But now this is the funny thing, if I drive to 30mph with 3rd, then to 45 or so with 4th, then to 5th (but cannot exceed 65mph), my EGT will stay around 1400-1450F.

So now, bascially I cannot go above 65mph because if I do, the EGT will go up to like 1550 before I reach 70 or so and stay there. and I am saying flat road (Crusing)
Please let me know, what's wrong?

No coolant is leaking. I am not IN BOOST ok. just normal driving under 0PSI.

My vaccum at idle is only 14-16. So that's one question I have.
Will my vaccum number drop because my compression ratio now is 8.6:1 instead of 9.6:1??
Because before I rebuild, my vaccum is like 20-22. now it's only 14-16 (sometimes it will go to 18 for a second or so at idle). Please let me know what you think!
THanks all.

Change your fuel filter if you haven't already, I dropped 50 degrees CELSIUS just by doing that - but gained it about the same amount putting a stock exhaust back on.

Well, I had a new fuel filter about 10K miles ago.

So you think it's my exhaust?
I have 2.5" DP, 3" cat, and 3.5" catback exhaust system.

It's so odd. I have all the turbo stuff hooked up. but before I get to 0PSI, my EGT is sky rocket!

High egt's while crusing and/or slight acceleration is normal. At 1600º let off, you're getting dangerous. My vac is always 16-18in/hg with my JE 8.8:1's. My egt's vary incredibly based on throttle position, load, and the road im on. When accelerating(in vac) while crusing my egt's rise very slowly, but they will pass 1600º if i were to let it. I think it has more to do with timing than air/fuel ratio. Just keep an eye on that gauge and be carefull. Tune the best you can with the tools you have. I highly suggest a data logger which I believe you already have. Tune with a wideband as soon as possible.

Aite guys.
Thanks for all the input.
I got it to pretty accept today. after driving, and get off to tune and continue driving for like 10 times.. (just today)

SO I will leave it for now, and I will order megasquirt, WBO2 sensor, and water injection. get those installed and go from there.
Another Grand for those stuff....
Going broke!
