I'm really thinking about buying an electric exhaust cutout in the next couple of days. What I was wondering is, with me going turbo, besides the boost spiking, what problems might I have? Also does anybody have any pics of it installed?

With the butterfly closed they leak a little bit but nothing huge. Some of the motors burn out easily. I've been using the McCord for awhile and have yet to have an issue with the actuator shitting out.

A good WGA and boost controller will solve the majority of spiking issues.

I wrote a review on my Mccord one. It's great! Silent with it closed if you have a stock exhaust, no droning noise during long trips, no unwanted attention from the police. Then you flip it open and you can hear your turbo spool at idle! Mine is on my DP and it is LOUD with it open. PM your email address and I'll send you pics

I run a stock GST exhaust, totally silent. The turbo spools instantly with it open.

Where Can we find this review? Im interested in learning more about this. Does this thing have any affect on your low end torque? Is it possible to have it closed for maximum low end power for a launch then flip the switch at the perfect time for maximum high end power?

no, you want it open all the time when you are racing/at the strip.
turbos work on a pressure differential, and reducing the backpressure to near nothing using a cutout is optimal for low end torque

well i ordered the McCord powerplate. Hopefully it wont cost too much to get the actual cutout welded to my downpipe.

I run one similar to this on my t3/t4 setup. Its a night and day difference with the cutout closed.(noise and power) Running a gst catback and a 2.5" dp i would spool the 50 trim to 20 psi by 4600ish if i remember correctely. With the cutout open it would reach full boost by 3500 and be pulling a LOT harder. If your looking for stealth this is a great mod. I ended up buying a 3" Apexi last week and plan to run them both, hopefully it will have next to no back pressure emoji

I got mine from here -

Thats awsome. I was wondering how much it cost you for a shop to have this put on or did you do it yourself.

It sounds like a truck, it's mean. Personally I like it better at idle and partial throttle cuz I can hear the turbo spool. You get used to it though, and after you make a run with it and close - it's totally silent, totally stealth and your buddies are like "that's so cool" Some times I miss gunning it and feeling the boost all the time, cuz the stock exhaust is small and it just chokes up the turbo, you don't feel the initial pull at 3k. But since I'm gonna be moving to San Diego I figure the cops look for rice rockets with a 5" tip out the end.

I had it done at the AutoHobby Shop here on base. I put it on with the flex section. DP-Flex-Cutout-flange.
