#88405, "FCD Question"

Ok well I have noticed that sometimes....not all the times, I get a slight bog/hesitation when I start to go into boost. I am using the missing link as a FCD now. I have also noticed that if I run the A/C the bog/hesitation turns more into a bucking. This all happens only during the first signs of boost and then proceeds into boost fine. Also it doesn't happen everytime I go into boost either. So this has got me baffled.

Any help or suggestions would be great.

Have you tried cleaning the ML lately? It could be funkafied. What version of the ML do you have? Does it have the little cigaret filter on the side?

you might want to try a voltage clamp type FCD along with the ML and see if that helps.

*edit*

the one from this thread is inexpensive and easy to build

I was actually just reading about that myself. Thanks, I will try and clean it again.

I've made that build it yourself FCD,and it worked for me too. What's cool about that too, is you can adjust the clamp voltage to less than 4.50 volts in boost, which can add a degree or two of timing if adjusted right..This can be good for a built lower than stock compression engine, but also bad for a stock compression engine as we dont really need much more timing for 8-10 psi or less boost(assuming 92-93 octane fuel)

Well that is a good bit of info to know...only thing is I am not built as of yet. I am slowly collecting all the parts to build the block in my garage and once its done swap it out and install the 8 injectors setup along with the LSD.

But didn't have time to check it yesterday...wife had me mowin the lawn and fixin her car. I will check it after work today though. I hope its just dirty and thats it! I am really leaning towards making that FCD to install after I am built.

Thanks for the info on that XtremeRS emoji

Mine was doing the same thing last summer. I took the filter out of the ML and cleaned it, then I sprayed a little WD-40 down into it and it's been fine since. After that I started cleaning the filter about every 1,000 miles or so.

Oh, you don't like altezza's? Too bad, your gonna get a good look at mine.

I went to clean it and all I saw down there was a little pink ring. Do you have to poke the filter out? Or how do you do it? I did notice a lot of gunk buildup in the hole the ML cover in intake manifold.
