What are some good STRONG manifold bolts i can use to attach a star manifold. I have been using the arp bolts for about a year and a half and i have snapped 4 of them off from the underside of the manifold. What would be a better set of manifold bolts?

You should switch to studs, bolts are the wrong way to go on the manifold to head area since your engine head is alum and will strip out easy. I bought all my studs/washers/nuts from the local hardware store for about 10$.

RRE has some, ours use the same ones as the 4G63. I forgot the size, but do a search. BTW they come with copper nuts which tend to be real soft and strip easy.

I agree with studs, the threads are 8mm X 1.25, available at any local harware store. no need to order RRE studs although i am sure they are nice. Mine have lasted for 4 years and counting.

If you find studs that have a allen socket in the end for installation purposes, install the allen portion into the head. If you install then the opposite with the allen socket outwards and the nut sits flush on the stud it can and most likely will break off. the allen socket in the stud makes the end of the stud weaker.

Run a chaser through the head threads to clean them. notice i said chaser not a tap. if you have any issues getting the studs to thread in, lock two nuts together and the end of the stud and install like a bolt. unlock the two nuts and remove them. New studs should thread in pretty easy though.

I actually ment studs not bolts. The studs didnt have the allen hole in them, but the nuts were copper. I got them from road race engineering, and they were for the 4g63.
