I have recently completed my turbo setup and am having problem keeping boost. I am running a deltagate with a 7lb spring in it. full 3" exhaust, 1g BOV, and i have the boost signal coming from the intake mani.


I can only build up to like 4-5psi. But it is gone almost instantly. I can hear the BOV letting out air the whole time it is building boost right up from 1lb up. I did a boost leak test and fixed one leak in my ic piping, but i put a bag and elastic over the bov and it fills the bag with air as soon as i begin to pressurize the system. The system loses pressure as soon as I remove the air compressor.

At some times it seems to hold boost at about 4-5psi for about 2-3seconds then the deltagate opens and it is ALL gone or it loses it before the wastegate even opens.

Is this a normal thing for the BOV to be leaking? And is my deltagate fawkd?

Have you tried taking the car out on the road? Your system will react differently with a load on it vs having you rev the engine in the garage. Just take the car around the neighborhood. Maybe have someone ride with you to check your boost gauge & see where it's at.

Na, it's not a driving thing, that's not right. It shouldn't leak like that. A BOV is exactly that, a valve that releases pressure at a specific instance. Is it bolted on with a flange or is it mounted with rubber connectors and hose clamps? If it is mounted correctly then something must be wrong with the valve mechanism itself.

ya I have been driving the car, you can hear the BOV leak the whole time you are trying to buiolt boost. It will buildf to 4-5lbs but you hear pshhshshsh the whole time it is building. The BOV is mounted on a flange and it is leaking out the exhuast of the BOV where it would normally blow off. So you guys agreed the BOV is toast and the root of this problem?

I believe BOV are slightly opened at idle (due to vaccum). However if you are not building boost it can be:

Leaky couplers and junctions,
faulty BOV mechanism,
Messed up internal/external wastegates springs,
Signal lines malfunction
Clogged area somewhere...

I have no other boost leaks in any of my piping.

It could possibly be Signal lines malfunction, however it is teed off the intake mani with silicone hose, so I doubt that.

The BOV is definately leaking all my boost away, i can build up to 4-5lbs but it is leaking the whole time, and by 5lbs before I can even use the boost and only at 3900rpm, the BOV opens completely and the boost is all lost.
