instead of having my air filter just a straight tube sticking off the turbo a few inches away like i had it. i now located it back where my battery used to be , as a result of this my bov somehow became louder. that dont make sense to me. any reason why? i would think the longer filter piping i have would maybe restrict it a lil but it didnt..

i dont have any current pics since i just did it today. but my turbo kit i custom made so my piping is diff than most of yours but i used just bent steel piping and ran it to where my battery and windshield washer container used to be. ( batt in trunk now) but this way i could shield it from the heat of where it used to be. . it seems to work well , but it changed the sound of the bov too.

I've noticed that too. When you put the filter directly on the compressor it sounds louder, but when I put it on the tube it's quieter but has a different sound a sharper sound. If your BOV flutters alot put it directly on the compressor. I dunno what it is - compressor surge, air velocity, yada yada yada. I'm sick of my GReddy BOV sound so I switch it up sometimes.

for fun, when cruising today, i took my whole intake pipe off my turbo so nothing was on it, but the turbo. i have to say, it was LOUD as hell spooling, but my BOV was just a big HUGE flutter. sounded cool, but not real loud. it was interesting.

With the intake pipe it's a little softer but sharper, w/o the pipe it's louder and I'd say more responsive. Later I want to get rid of the Type-S and get a Turbonetics one - they sound nice.

Haven't heard the turbonetics bov, did you hear a sound clip or have you heard one in person?
