Just a little update on me b/c I haven't posted in a while:
Some of you may remember me having all kinds of oil pressure problems .... After dropping my short block off to get looked at last week at a local machine shop I finally got word that the bottom end is junk. It's 8 thousands out on the line bore, and the cylinders are out of round. So, for financial reasons and just an effort to get the car moving again after 2 years I'm going back to stock with my original bottom end. I just got my head back from a different machine shop after being machined and cleaned, so I'm I'll set to put her back together this week. As far as a "turbo" future goes for the Stage III 420A we'll have to wait and see ... I probably won't decide until this winter. Either A LOT of stuff will be for sale or I'll be going in for round 3. Anybody want to donate a new bottom end to me? ...

I hate to hear the horrible news. It's never an easy thing to deal with. Knowing something you've built and worked your ass off to buy is ruined. Your best course of action in this situation is finding the root cause of your problems. There is a reason why you had bad oil pressure and that caused the loss of your bottom end. When you rebuilt last time did you make sure you replaced the oil pump and installed it to specs? (i don't remember the whole situation). I just don't want to see you get a used shortblock and run turbo on stock internals and blow a stock motor because of oiling problems. Good luck with getting things sorted out.

This is a very sad story. When you had it running with the stage 2, it was so clean. If its just the pistons and the block that is bad, you can still use the rods correct? It might not be a full rebuild but atleast you wouldnt need to buy everything. Sorry to hear about this Chris. Which ever way you lean on going to, I will understand cause it sucks when your car kicks you that hard and you keep falling but when you overcome something thats when you show that car whats up! I hope the best if you decied to do it again.

Actaully Geo the pistons and rods are fine, which is nice b/c as you know I have some expensive pistons and rods. The problem is the block would have to over-bored at least 60 over to correct the problem, so I would have to get different pistons which I really don't feel like doing.
Totaleklipse - As far as the "root of the problem" goes, my machinist said it looks to him like the block was bad before I ever rebuilt it and put it in the car, considering I only ever got 1000 miles on it before this all happened. Which, sorta means it was my fault ... (here comes advice) ... in my excitment to get the car running I never had the short block checked out and I should have. It costs money, but look at the money I've spent now and all the down time. So, the next short block I buy is going right to the machine shop for a spec check before I start doing anything. On the flip side it's nice to know it wasn't a bad rebuild on my part. You live and you learn, and most of the time that sucks.
So, I mounted the head to the stock short block tonight. The funny part is I'm so desperate to drive the car I can't wait to remember how slow this thing is ....

Well, finally got the car back together all stock tonight. Started right up after being on and off the road for close to 2 years. Wow, stock is slow. I still have a LSD and a custom fuel system, does that count for anything? Anyway, it's just nice to have the car on the road again. In the meantime, I made some phone calls about some GSX's for sale, so as soon as she's inspected she might be for sale ...???
