#87579, "fmu and overheating? 1g BOV? how to protect radiator hose?" Jul-02-05 05:09 AM by cs82685
1) is there any way to tell if your fmu isn't working? my a/f gauge is reading way low when boosting or will jump all around, but the thing is it does it sometimes and not others w/o boost i havent' tried to see if it would do it sometimes and not others under boost. Just changed the O2 sensor b/c i thought that might have been it but no change.
ALSO the FMU is a purple color so i don't even know if its a vortech or not all the pictures of those i've seen have been blue
2)since the turbos been on even though my egts are normal my temp gauge in the car will sometimes go way up to just below the H usually when i'm going uphill, (idk if the two are even related), but could anyone suggest what to use to protect the upper radiator hose from heat i think that may be the cause
3)I have a 1g bov and when i shift at about 3000rpms it flutters, but if i shift over 4000rpms it blows off normal i'm worried the fluttering is compressor surge so i was wondering if i could do anything to fix this
TIA sorry for the long post i just couldn't find the answers i'm looking for, i really need to get the FP gauge installed b/c that's the only way i could figure out to seee if the fmu is working
I contributed to the Wiki! EVO IX - just a really expensive boost gauge and a K&N air filter 96 Eclipse RS -awaiting registration and inspection 95 Eclipse GS - parts car Mods/Profile - http://www.2gnt.com/index.php?d=cs82685

1. narrow band air/fuel gauges never read right except for decel i think it is. your gauge will always be jumping from lean to rich and what not, that just how nbo2's read.
2. get some kind of like extra rubber piece or something and strap it over your radiator hose. you could just buy another radiator hose for your car, cut it down the middle, and wrap that over your exisiting hose. your temp gauge and egt gauge are not the same nor related related really. your temp gauge obvioulsy reads water temp and your egt's are reading your exhaust temps.
3. your fluttering just 'probably' means theres not much build up to make it 'loud' when im going up a hill just normal driving, and its boosting like 1-2psi or whatever, when i let off the gas, it will flutter like that.
