I am installing an oil cooler and the oil block adapter makes my filter(which is the recommended FRAM PH16) hang below the oil pan. The filters suggested in other posts are not available around me. So I looked at all the filters for a suitable one. The FRAM PH7328 is the same thread and the gasket lines up but it is shorter by 3/4". I am just wondering if filters are different on the inside and would cause any harm to my engine because of this?

Or if you can tell me the filters by FRAM, Quaker State, or AC DELCO that are shorter and will suit out cars.

this shows that this eco clean filter is a replacement for both the ph16 and ph7328, does that mean it is ok?

Filters are basically the same on the inside. So yeah, that filter should work fine. The only thing with smaller filters is that they don't flow as much oil as a larger one because there is less filter media. I am also going to install an oil cooler on my car, but I think that I am going to use a filter relocation kit instead of running a smaller filter just to be on the safe side.

What worries me about running a smaller filter is since I am running a turbo (which requires a lot of oil) the oil pump is going to have to move a lot of oil to keep the oil pressure up especially when running high rpms.

This is just my thinking.

This filter is shorter than the PH16 but it is "fatter", so it should be fairly equal I hope.

I'd stay away from Fram. I've seen them fall apart myself. Not worth the money saved IMO.

I personally now only use K&N performance gold oil filters, because I don't have a micron filter installed before my GT turbo.
