I am doing my exhaust now, 3" mamndrel bent from turbo back. Running 7psi intercooled on a t3 hybrid turbo. I want to get that v8 flowmaster sound if possible. Would a flowmaster even sound anything like that onm our cars?

No. You have a turbocharger 4-banger... not a V8.

if you want a deep v-8 sound, buy a v-8 or put another 420a in trunk and run'em both together!

Correct way: The motor determines the sound of the exhaust.
incorrect way: the exhaust determines the sound of the motor.
Any questions....lol

There is a rule of thumb i learned when i was young. Dont build the exhaust to make the car loud. Build the motor to make the car loud.

Heh, I like that. My thoughts exactly.

Maybe it's just me, but I love the sound of a forced induction 2 liter with a big 3" exhaust and a free-flowing muffler.

My friend owns a quick Talon I was driving couple of days ago. I turned a corner, redlined hitting 18 PSI, lost traction and backfired twice in a row like a rally car. Oh man that put a grin on my face emoji

why does it say there is a paper jam when there is no! fucking! paper! jam!

...its even funnier because the printer in our office is doing that exact thing right fuckin now.

on topic though, my buddy has a flowmaster on his talon and he has a really weird sound. I like it, but its kind of this burbling growly raspy sound.

ok ok, thanks for the flame,

i just wondered if there was anyone running a flowmaster and if it made the deep sound or not. Thanks for the info. I do like the sound of V8s but I would never trade my car for anything else.

What mufflers are you running and how do they sound? Anyone got a sound clip?

I have run my car open header, with 2 different mufflers, no muffler, and open cyat. I didn't like any of them. If i had to pick one I'd say go stright pipe with res. She sounded like a monster when she was just stright pipe. I had no back pressure so it ran shitty but sounded pretty cool.

When i had to get my downpipe refabricated and i drove it to the shop open turboback it sounded like a tractor. Thats kind of close to a V8 even tho its more of a motorboat sound.

Why are WRX's all so deep, whats with the boxer that makes it do that?

Because their pistons face outwards and ours are all next to eachother. Fun fact the first boxer motor was created in the mid 1930's by vw for their bug. It was air cooled instead of water cooled which was much more efficent for their enviroment, and it could reach a top speed of only 60 mph. Soon after wwII and the creation of the autobaun the old air cooled boxer motor was replaced with a water cooled one that had a much larger displacment.

i dunno...i know i have heard of v6 guys (like in lower model camaros and firebirds) that buy exhausts with some sorta special sound chamber (not in the muffler) that helps create a more v8'ish sound. dunno that it would work for us.

DO NOT use a FlowMaster, it'll sound like shit. My friend has one on his H22 Hatch and believe me when I say it is the most horrific sound you'll ever hear.

If you have a turbo on the car already it'll act like a muffler and change the sound of the exhaust note completly. I know mine did when I went from NA to FI. It sounds totally mean and aggressive, not ricey.

I don't mean to get off topic but I think its funny when ya roll up on a dodge dakota r/t wanna be slamed to the ground on rims, has a fibergalss tuno, 5% tint all around, flowmaster/k&n stickers all over it. Then guy smacks on the gas and it turns out to be a little 4 banger that sounds like my car.

Flowmaster is junk. It pissed me off to the point, that I was going to go to Flowmaster's HQ and throw it through the window. I called them about it and they were not interested in talking about it. My buddy went to SEMA and talk to the engineers and they did not care. Total waste of money.

HEY! It's one of those Avenger V8 dragster cars... why doesn't anyone do that to an Eclipse? I saw these a long time ago and figured if they had the same engine bay, then it should be completely possible, but I've only ever seen it done on Avengers.

edit: wait that's a Sebring. So now I've seen dragster Sebrings and Avengers, but no Eclipses emoji

Trust me I know that their 5.9 v8 is good for low 15 high 14 runs stock but I was talking about regular dakotas with the little 4 bangers in them. Some kid down the road from me has one. Its a little 4 banger dressed up in stickers and r/t symbols to look like an r/t. When he turns it on its easy to tell that its clearly not but its a riced out truck.
