Hey guys I just got my RRE can today and I mounted it to the ECU like many others before me did. My question is do we only use the one outlet for connecting the PCV line. what is the other outlet used for? I noticed on RRE's website all of the 4G63 guys have both outlets on the can used. Another question is how does the thing create a vaccum to allow the crancase to breathe. I am just curious of the operation of this device. Thanks for any help.

The other outlet can be used to empty the oil out of once filled. Other people may use the outlet to continue the line to the destination it once satisfied. That is, to the intake. I'm guessing that's where the 4g63 people have theirs heading to. I'm not sure why. If you don't want the oil to go back into the intake...why retain the line? Possibly to allow the escaped engine vapors to still go back into the intake and satisfy unaccounted vapors to that very anal MAS. (a guess that's drawn from a smililar situation as to why many 4gers don't vent their BOV's to the atmosphere)

No vacuum is required for this line. The crankcase breather that this line facilitates is something of a bleedover valve. It allows excess pressure with its accompanying oil to escape when the car is under atmospheric pressure, or in our case, boost. You can imagine a situation (without a crankcase breather) for the engine building up a ton of pressure within its head, with nowhere for the oil to escape, and the finally creating an escape path somewhere like the headgasket.
That's why these catch cans still have air filters on them. Still allowing an escape path for engine vapors.
