#86869, "Custom Turbo Setup"

I am opting for the Custom Turbo setup, a company that sponsors a car club I am part of is gonna get it all together for me. Heres the details.

t3/t04e stage 3 turbo
38mm wastegate
Steel tubular manifold
oil lines w/ sandwitch adapter
bov-110Db stage 2
downpipe - 3inch stainless steal
flanges
fmic probably 25X6 or so
intercooler piping
walbro 255l pump
blox 12:1 fmu
blox missing link
GReddy Profec B Spec II Boost Controller
Autometer Ultra Lite 30psi Boost/Vac Gauge

Total inludes shipping......$3225

Its a complete kit and a local buisness so I can always go there if I have problems. What you guys think? I just want some opinions befor I spend the money.

I have a 96 RS with 78,000 Miles on it. im doing a compression test towmmorw morning and if the numbers are good Im going for it other wise doubt I will but just want opinions.

yah def see what your compression #'s look like and go from there! The peices in the kit you described seem to be pretty good. I assume all the extra oil lines and connectors are included in this kit right?

blox makes honda stuff... mani's and whatnot..

i would just go for it! BUT please make sure that everything is the way it should be...i only say that cause i now am going through trying to maintain my setup. biggest problems thus far for my setup : manifold cracking, exhaust(fixed, now have 3"turbo back), and for my latest return line! the place that installed my oil return line used silicone line.. the fucker got sooo hot, it burst in half... as soon as i saw smoke, i pulled over and towed the car!

point is, make sure everything is the way it should be! you shouldnt have any problems with that setup!

Thats quite a bit of loot for a non tested and proved turbo kit imo.

If thats installed, and they will warranty ANY problem that the kit has, then I would say ok. But you better make fucking sure that is the case, and maybe get something signed just for your piece of mind. They shouldn't have a problem with that.

If they wont and its just for parts, thats way to expensive.

Thats a very good point...I would not buy the kit if they do not put it in writing that they will fix and back the parts in the kit.

I would not take their word if that is all they will give you! If they say "Hey you know us, why do you need this in writing?...you know we will fix any issues that come up....I promise!" Ummmm NOPE! Seriosly get it in writing or better yet, just get a kit you know has the backing and is a proven kit!

get a used HRC or Star stage 2 for about 2k and you would still have the money to upgrade your fuel system and dp.

Try to buy a turbo/manifold combo with intercooler piping and buy the rest in pieces and you will save a lot of money!

I agree. Everything else is relatively painless. Manifolds crack if they aren't built properly (or with proper materials). In my opinion, that is one of the most critical choices you can make in designing your turbo kit.

I think $3,000 is WAY too much for that setup. You could build yourself for a little over half, and even get better parts along the way. If you're going to drop that kind of cash, get a brand name, proven kit like a Hahn.
