#86711, "Turbo Install"

Hey guys. Well, things have come togeather perfectly. I have completly assembled a custom turbo kit for my car. The only thing I am lacking right now is a manifold, and that is because I am picky as hell. I am looking for a Stainless Steel Tubular Manifold with wastegate flange. Anybody know where I can get one?

The real reason for the post is, I live in Atlanta, GA. I am looking for a trustworthy place to do the install. Anybody know of any shops in Georgia that they have taken their car to for their turbo conversion. Trying to find a place that knows the 420a engine. Thanks guys.

those guys are brilliant. take your car there if at all possible. 400whp and 408trq are pretty impressive numbers out of a 420A emoji

I think the only polished tubular mani. is the one by ssautochrome. And trust me you don't want that. You could have one made, but the last time I checked, shops were charging anywhere from 500-1000 bucks for one. You could probably buy the one from ssautochrome and then have someone make a copy of it using better materials and welds. But that will probably cost a lot too.

there is a local guy here that will make one for $800cdn. I could give him my car, get him to make one, and then send it to you, if you wanted to go that route. he makes really nice stuff, a manifold of his is on a 600whp Honda right now, TIG welds the manis too. you'd probably need a new downpipe then and my car has no AC so he might put it in a weird spot.

Thanks guys. You are very helpful. I called and talked to Armond briefly, he is putting some prices togeather for me. The tubular manifold, why do you say no to SSAutochrome. I almost bought it but it says they are out of stock. have you bought one or know somebody that did buy one? I have a guy here who will make me one for $600 but was looking for one that was already premolded and made to save $$. My main thing is I need it to be show worthy considering that is my main purpose. Again guys, thank you for all the input and keep it coming.

SSautochrome is more concerned with presentation over actual quality. there have been a lot of people who talk about their manifolds cracking and falling apart, the turbos ssautochrome sells will explode for no reason since they are very poorly put together, and so on. they just do not have a good reputation at all with enthusiasts and people who actually want performance and reliability emoji ricers love them though.

^^^ Answers that question. Well, I am looking at www.TurboDave.com . I have a lot of friends who have had him do fabrication and say he is one of the best fabricators they know. I am gonna get a price from him and see what I can find out. Anybody have any more info on a Mass produced Tubular Manifold by another company??

Good luck trying to make a equal length manifold.

Problems:
1) Power steering pump
2) Starter (big turbos)
3) The angle of runners required to make an equal length will not allow you to use all of the bolts/studs on the flange
4) The hood will melt if you have that crazy "spider" design for the runners

Believe me I went through this process and the fabricator went through several prototype designs that are now paperweights. So what it comes down to is an exhaust manifold that has shortened runners but still has the same merge collector with equal sections. If someone would like to prove me wrong I would be more than happy to buy your product. Mine is off to www.finishlinecoatings.com to get the manifold/downpipe coated.

Alright guys, I purchased my Turbo manifold. I took everybodies advice and decided to pass on the Tubular manifold. I got my manifold from http://forcedairresearch.tripod.com/ . Robert is FANTASTIC to work with. He builds the manifold to order and has pretty much every flange you need for the turbo and/or wastegate. Mass props to him, he is building my manifold for me. Thus, the wide body will be TURBO'd up by July. I will take pictures and post them later. Thanks for all the help guys!!
