Was at the shop today to pick up my shortblock (they didn't have it ready - figures) and, well.. they didn't have it ready. Me, the service manager, and the one shop tech left there broke the tranny loose from the block, and proceded to cuss and grunt trying to get the clutch off so i could take the thing..

OMG, you should have seen that CLUTCH! I couldn't believe it! I saw the thing when it was put in NEW, about 20K miles ago.. You could see the HEAT on this thing.. Heat markings on it, blck in some places, the SPLINES had a serious GROOVE cut into them from the throwout bearing wearing away at them.. All those hard shifts, all that horsepower, that poor OEM clutch .. I couldn't help but feel SORRY for the thing, in between sadistic laughs at its plight..

It's fun getting to see the effects off all your abuse close up, rather than just feeling them in your checkbook emoji

The one i got for free, that has been collecting dust in my closet for almost a year: a slightly used (5000 miles) CFDF.

Got it with the transmission i bought.. All this for $500: Extreme MS Short shifter, CFDF /w 5000 miles, 96 GS 5sp tranny with 36,000 miles, stock flywheel, set of stock cam gears, full shifter linkage w/ plate and bushings...

Not a bad deal. The guy had done an auto to manual swap, and never could get the speedo or tach to work again, so he tore all his shit out, put it back to stock, and sold the car. I got all his leftovers.
