Okay I am so confused I just wanna break something already. Okay, heres what up, I am supposed to drive my car to the paint shop thursday finally but im puffing white smoke. I just posted a couple days ago asking if new rings could cause smoking since they havent sealed at all yet cuz im yet to drive the car since my rebuild over winter. now, i was reading this forum from awhile ago when searching through like 10million "white smoke" forums (here is the link: http://forums.2gnt.com/dcboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=5&topic_id=75843&mesg_id=75843&listing_type=search ) and anyhow, someone mentioned that running extremely rich could cause this. now, i WAS told this could be possible from another member from the boards on AIM about a week ago who is turbo and is very knowledged with the 420a. so im lost, i drained the oil today and it wasnt "milky" at all, just looked like some real thin synthetic oil. so i dont know what to do, the head was decked before i put it back on and i torqed the studs down 5 more lbs than what arp called for. so i guess im asking, what and the fuck should i do or is running super rich a case of puffing a little smoke? oh and its not a shitload of smoke, just a tiny bit. and you can deff smell the richness too, im going to be hooking up the safc thursday but what the hell else should i do!? lol

that is what I was going to say too. How long has the car been sitting and all the fluids laying dormant in your car? How long did you let it run? Did you try it again later to see if it still does it?

You said the car hasn't been driven since the rebuild??? Is it possible it's just burning off oil lube from when the engine was assembled .... I guess the better question is .... Is it constantly blowing white smoke or is it "puffing" white smoke when you shift. Those are two totally different ball games ....

Its been sitting for like 2-3 weeks since last started and idled. I am off work tomorrow so I am going to start her up and let her run for about 30 mins idling and see if it goes away. hopefully its just condensation and the exhaust just wasnt real hot yet ya know cuz i am supposed to drive this bitch to the paint shop tomorrow finally!

I would suggest actually driving it. Put a load on that engine. When we tried firing my motor after the car sat for nearly 7 months and the exhaust cam was 180* out, we cranked and cranked and cranked with no results. Point I'm making is, two days later, after we got the timing right and went to fire her up, the first thing she did was backfire like a motherfucker. Get out there and drive it. Not like you aren't going to have to do a final prep before paint once it gets to the booth anyways.
Maybe this is nothing, but sometimes you just have to try it out. A little white smoke is no reason to delay paint. Just means you have to be more careful pulling the engine if something is seriously fucked in there. Maybe just have them paint the back half? LOL

haha. well ya i know i need to get out and drive it, but i cant, lol. i have no headlights, tail lights, hatch, hood, doors, or front bumper. a little illegal here in ol-ohio. lol. i am going to drive it over there and hope everything is okay. i know its probably nothing but i just didnt want to drive it and fuck up anything any worse ya feel me.
