well i got my greddy SMIC back and i put it on. im only running 8 psi but when i had no intercooler i could floor it and it would be a constant 8 psi till i let off. now i floor it and it goes to 8 for a few sec then drops to 5-6 ish.. i set my boost control to make it 8 but if i set it any higher ill be tapping 10 or so to keep a constant. 8 . any ideas why>? and is this normal or no? there is no boost leaks either.

you will see somewhat of a loss in boost pressure, but it really sounds like you have a boost leak.

boost controller problem then?

granted, like i said, you will loose some boost because of the intercooler, but you should be able to hold a constant level.

what if you run the boost controller from a vacuum source at the head and plug the nipple on the turbo, that way your wastegate won't open until the actual pressure that you want it to

i did block off that port already. it runs off the mani directly. shares a line with BOV . i dunno. it spools up nicely buy stays constant at only 6 or so psi unless i let off a lil and spool it back up .

Yeah try a conventional boost controller..just sounds like it's spiking. Also, you said you checked for boost leaks...How did you do this? If you weren't pressurizing the intake system with at least 10-15 psi of air pressure, you have no idea that you dont have a leak. I use a homemade tester and my air compressor, block off the turbo inlet, and regulate air from the compressor into the intake.

Also, I dont like to run the wastegate line along with a BOV, as some BOV pistons do leak a little bit when under pressure, which can play a part in the boost spike issue. I really like to run a single, dedicated line from the intake to the wastegat/boost controller.

I have that same problem. My shit spikes to 9 then settles to 7psi. I'm using the TurboXS 2 stage mbc. All I wanna do is run a constant 9 psi, but can do it without hitting 11, so I'm stuck with 7 until I can figure this bullshit out. Good luck man.

thing is. when i take I cooler off and just run my turbo without it. i get a constant 8 psi. so maybe my turbo jut not big enough for runnning an intercooler i dunno? it came off a non intercooled subaru legacy which stock actuates at six psi.. im runnin 7-8 max . for now im leaving i cooler off like i had it for a while i guess. it actually seems to be faster without it. acceleration wise .
