My main mission at NOPI was to buy one and luckily I found someone selling the brand I was looking for. I wanted the RFL but the Type H will have to do. Its kinda big so it wouldn't fit where the old BOV was so I had a muffler shop weld the flange farther down the pipe. Consequently its not that loud in the cabin but more impressive outside the car. It looks great and no compressor surge. It still goes off under low boost yet it closes much faster than the STD HKS (which worked great also). I only have one washer in it. Wish it was blue though. Cost $25 to weld the flange. Might still get the RFL one day (no time soon).
Cool, what boost are you running. Mine's still at 5 psi, the car drives strange though. Gotta get used to it, but I get boost spikes since i installed the IC, I hear the BOV go off when I'm at lower boost but at high boost I get this stuttering sound. Or should I try to adjust the loadscrew?
Where is the best place to put the BOV, on the outlet pipe or the inlet pipe near the compressor? My dad thinks it'll work better if I put it on the inlet piping. Heh I know it'll got hotter!
Does you intake piping in the engine bay still get warm? All that heat from the engine warms up the pipes a little.
How does it sound compared to the HKS Standard? No more Whoosh just a loud PSSHHT?

I get no spikes with just the wastegate. Sometimes the joe P spikes 1 psi and drops back to where its suppose to be. It doesn't spike with a large fresh boost signal hose. How much are you spiking and how often?

I never got flutter with either BOV. No flutter, no whistle, no high pitch noises. Raizin suggested putting the filter directly on the compressor solves the problem. Well mine has been on the compressor as long as I've been stage II so maybe thats why I never got any flutter. If your speaking of the wastegate screw I'd leave it alone. I've never messed with mine. check the condition of the boost signal hose as well as leaks as far as spiking. Turbo XS recommends putting it inbetween the TB and intercooler. Once past the intercooler it shouldn't matter. I've seen em mounted on the intercooler outlet itself as well as on the TB.

It gets HOT! The intercooler outlet is cold but the closer to the TB the hotter the piping is. Must be underhood heat heating the inlet pipe since the air coming into isn't hot. I'll eventually wrap mine with heat barrier to keep the underhood temps from heating up the charge air (not to be confused with heat isolators like for exhaust. dont use that). On a side note I've read that although the compressor and pipes may be hot the air isn't in there long enough to heat it as much as most people think.

My HKS never really wooshed it "Shhhhhhhhhhh" the H is pretty much the same sound just a Pshhhhhhhhhhhhhh" like a gun reverb. Its louder than the HKS at lower loads and I'm not even sure if its louder at higher loads cause when shifting fast it stops all noise and closes dead in its tracks.
And Jason my fascination with BOV is officially over. Now its on to electronic boost controllers (and when UPS can get my injectors to and back from RC overnight again). There's a sound file of the type S on a link somebody posted a while ago. It should sound the same since they are built exactly alike internally except for size.
how soon will that be and how much do you want for it? http://www.geocities.com/blue2gnt --------------------------------------------------------------- VANILLA RICE
