#84590, "Finished Installing Turbo Kit (PICS)"

Well I finally installed by turbo kit. Its basically a star kit stage 2 pieced together. Bought most if not all the parts from members from this board. I got the turbo, mani, wastegate, fmic, piping, downpipe and bov from optikal thanks for a good deal on these parts. And thanks to all the other members that helped me out on parts.
The images seem to only come out as links on the board I guess image extension have to be used to show the image. I've tried different extension but none work so you will have to click through all the links. I've also post a thread like this in another DSM forum where the pics showed up copy and paste the link below if you don't feel like clicking through all the links http://www.ca.dsm.org/cgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=20;t=000268

I brought my car to my buddies shop early morning this is what she looked like.

http://images.snapfish.com/34358%3A5923232%7Ffp58%3Dot%3E232%3C%3D4%3B%3C%3D759%3DXROQDF%3E23237%3B%3A%3A6459%3Bot1lsi

I was really excited to finally start installing the turbo kit I pulled off the front end with in 5mins.

http://images.snapfish.com/34358%3A5923232%7Ffp63%3Dot%3E232%3C%3D4%3B%3C%3D759%3DXROQDF%3E23237%3B%3A%3A77557ot1lsi

Once the front end was stripped we bolted on the Star FMIC

http://images.snapfish.com/34358%3A5923232%7Ffp63%3Dot%3E232%3C%3D4%3B%3C%3D759%3DXROQDF%3E23237%3B%3A%3A77565ot1lsi

Then we removed the stock exhaust header and the best part was trying to remove the downpipe from the cat emoji:. This is when the torch came in handy emoji . We unbolted the oil pan tapped it for the return fitting cleaned it out to get rid of all the shavings(sorry no pics). We installed the Star turbo manifold, Turbonetics T3/T04 Turbocharger(.63AR T3 Hotside with a 50 trim wheel), Deltagate Mark II Wastegate and 2.75" Exhaust Down Pipe. And since I didn't have any gaskets for in between the mani and turbo, and turbo and downpipe my buddy had a sheet of metal which is used to make your own gaskets(not sure what its called)so I traced out flanges and cut out the gaskets.

http://images.snapfish.com/34358%3A5923232%7Ffp63%3Dot%3E232%3C%3D4%3B%3C%3D759%3DXROQDF%3E23237%3B%3A%3A77577ot1lsi

Removed the oil perssure sensor switch (located at the back of the block its the last sensor closest to the tanny housing) Place a T fitting size is 3/8" NPT in the location of the oil pressure switch and place the pressure switch to the other end and place a fitting at the top that will fit with the braided SS hose that goes to the turbo.

http://images.snapfish.com/34358%3A5923232%7Ffp63%3Dot%3E232%3C%3D4%3B%3C%3D759%3DXROQDF%3E23237%3B%3A%3A7758%3Bot1lsi

Installed all the piping.

Installed a walbro 255lph fuel pump. Pump is located under the back seats on the passenger side. Was a pretty direct swap with the stock pump(no pics). Placed my FMU 12:1 in between the brake and clutch fluid resorvoir. I had a set of relays there before but relocated them behind the washer fliud reservoir.

Installed a air filter on the turbo and that is pretty much it. I also installed a boost gauge, A/F gauge, EGT gauge and a greddy auto turbo timer but will post pics of that later on. Here are pics with of the kit completed on my ESi.

Yeah know but when I bought it off optikal it was already tapped on the downpipe so I kept it there. I get a reading of 9000-10000 on regular driving and 12000 when driving hard does that sounds right?

These are the parts I got and it came out to $1900-$2000USD
Turbonetics T3/T04 Turbocharger
Star Performance Cast Iron Turbo Exhaust Manifold
Deltagate Mark II Wastegate
FMIC
HKS SSQ BOV
2.5" Exhaust Down Pipe
greddy turbo timer
Vortech FMU 12:1
Walbro 255lph
Autometer Phantom Boost gauge -30/30
Autometer Phantom Air/Fuel gauge
Autometer Phantom EGT gauge
A-pillar Triple gauge pod

Thanks for the great feed back.

I noticed you wrote that you pieced your kit together. Do you have a dollar count on how much you spent altogether to complete your turbo kit??

Those EGT readings sound about right especially due to where it was tapped in at. Also great job on the install!

Nah, it's not useless information. Instead of the shit hitting the fan around 1600+ degrees it will hit the fan around 1300+.

Well I've read somewhere I think it was on this board that putting the egt on the downpipe is pretty common and its done alot with the supra guys.
It pulls nice. The external dump makes it sound mean once its fully boosted. The thing is I'm only getting 3-4psi on the boost gauge isn't wastegate that comes in the star kit set to 7psi? I guess I will leave it at 3-4psi for now let the engine get used to seeing boost then the get a boost controller and boost it up to 7 in a couple weeks or so.

good idea! That is what I am doing. I am only seeing about 5psi on mine now with only about 280 some turbo miles. Looking to get a profec B II and turn it up to 7 or 8.

Anyway nice install and enjoy the boost!
